Poop Stains

Anybody getting worse poop stains from solids than they ever did with breast milk?

Riley's been blowing out diapers at DC (I don't think they put them on her great) and I've got a few cute onesies with yellow poop stains on the back!

Anything working to get them out? My usual method (soaking and rubbing detergent onto the stain) isn't working with these solids poops.

Thanks!

Re: Poop Stains

  • I have used Fels naptha bar soap, then resolve stain stick since the beginning, and it is still working. Ds only goes every other day and they are all massive blowouts now.

  • Leaving it wet from the washer out in the sun. As @nkaeding said, it works like a charm.

  • Dumb question. Do you treat it before Laying it out in the sun?

    I second this.

So far the Shout Advanced gel has worked for us.

I have something we just ran out of I'll have to ask dh when he gets home. It takes wine and grape juice stains out as well. It's in a white bottle with a pop up red top. For the life of me I can't remember the name.

@mermomo5 - is it Gonzo?  I know that stuff works great getting stains out of everything but have never tried it on clothes....may have to look into it if that's it.

Anyways, we soak in Oxiclean and then wash and that usually tends to do the trick.

  • Another sunlight vote. I have to look at our stain spray bottle but it has been working hard with my 3 little piggies ;). Also, I have found that using an old (cleaned) toothbrush to gently rub the stain spray on the stain has helped a lot.

  • Another vote for soaking in oxiclean.
  • yea, the poop stains are worse now for sure. I use a homemade mixture of hydrogen peroxide and blue dawn dishwashing soap as a spot treatment. Then I throw it in the regular wash.

  • I use Clorox 2 for stains.
  • I spray everything with Spray and Wash.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  I should try peroxide and sunshine (ha what's that?  I'm in WA. :) )  We having had issues with blow outs since starting solids but DD has been having trouble pooping.

PS. I'm glad this thread is about babies and not adults.

  • We usually mix dawn & peroxide together and then just pour it on the stain. It usually comes right out in the wash. I think the ratio is 1 part Dawn soap (the blue kind) to 2 parts hydrogen peroxide.
    Good luck!
  • I'm just lurking this thread to be jealous of everyone who has sunshine. If I'd left clothes out this winter, they would have just wound up frozen in the dark.
