Would you make last minute childcare arrangements to go to a concert you have no interest in (tickets will cost $70) to make your h happy? I really don't want to go but sometimes I think I am just a bitchy stick in the mud.

Can he go alone? Not ideal obviously, but people do it all the time.

I am afraid he will take it as a rejection of him if I suggest that...like I don't want to do anything with him. Uggh...its a jazz concert, and I just don't get jazz.

My parents are in town, to help my sis with her newborn. He wants me to ask them to watch dd, but I dont want to burden them, since they haven't offered to watch her. Also, I just don't want to go or spend the money. I guess I am answering my own question.

$70 for 2...I think the money would be better spent on someone who would enjoy it more.

I'm going to be the opposite. We both sometimes do things to make each other happy. Now if financially we couldn't swing it no, but if we could I would do it.

This may come from the fact that we get so little time out together so take it with a grain of salt.

Its wayne shorter, who is a really famous jazz guy. @angelashly that is why I'm conflicted. We don't get to go out together much. But I like to plan things, if he had told me he wanted to go a month ago, I would have made it happen, but I just feel like I don't want to go to the effort on a work night.

Then he might have bigger issues...

Not necessarily if it is something he wants to share with his wife and she says no it may hurt his feelings. I know if it was me and my so said yeah no I don't like jazz take a friend I would feel rejected.

If money wasn't the issue and it was possible to get child care and it meant a lot to him, I'd go.

Good news...he bought the tickets, wants me to go, but doesn't seem like he will be butthurt if I can't get a babysitter. He said he is pretty sure he can find someone else to go. He understands why I am reluctant (he knows some of his jazz music is too far out there for me). But he thinks I will like it. Thanks for the advice, I think I worried too much about it.

In the spirit of "If it's important to you, it's important to me," I would try to go (or at least I like to think I would!). Glad it worked out.
