April Fool's pregnancy announcements--let's make this garbage into a game!

Tomorrow is the day that some of our hilaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarious friends will decide to announce their fake pregnancies via social media, and perhaps in person. I say we make it into a game. Whoever counts the most BS announcements in their news feed (or whatever) wins. Perhaps a badge as a prize???

I thought about doing it myself for April fools and then come out about IF and use it as a lead into my IF awareness week blurb. (but since Im in the 2ww, so i really might be pregnant). But i wanna play!!! I know there will be a lot of stupid April Fools jokes out there.

I am in... although it is nice to see a couple of my friends have already made post about how cruel it is to do that etc... I am not that brave but I def liked their post and commend them for making the stand.

I would love to play but I gave up Facebook for Lent. It has really helped my mental sanity to not see everyone's pregancy annoucements/complaints and baby pictures everywhere.

OMG! I am so grateful for the reminder about the stupidity of some people's "pranks." Otherwise, I know that I would have been caught off guard and upset to see pregnancy announcements on my feed tomorrow. Especially because I had hoped I would have good news to share this week.

I'm antisocial and I "unsubscribed" to everyone that isn't family or someone that I talk to on a daily basis (long before IF). I *think* I'll be safe from this tomorrow, but we'll see I guess!

A lady that I met through a miscarriage/pregnancy loss support group (her son was stillborn), just posted this link on FB with a gentle reminder of why fake pregnancy announcements are not funny. I might repost it tonight.

This is so horrible to admit but I literally hid EVERY person on my FB list. Why? So I can see their statuses in MY leisure LOL That's aweful huh?? I kinda like it! I can now see only businesses and my neighborhood homeowners association page LOL

I"m tempted to change it just so I can play this game! lol

I've never heard of this... mind you I my friends list is kept very tight and I don't have many people who I don't actually talk to. What a dumb idea - even if i wasn't experiencing IF I would think anyone who thought that was a funny April Fools day joke was an idiot

I win!!! My co-worker and his wife (who works upstairs) just told me they are pregnant and it is NOT a prank, they just thought it would be funny to annouce on April Fools. I only know that it is not a joke because another co-worker told me she saw the sonogram a short while back. What sucks is that she is due the same time I would have been if IVF #1 had worked. And she is kinda bitchy, too.

I'm so sorry @Carol77B. My direct report is due 10 days before what my due date would have been with IVF #3.

I posted this status last night along with the "Pregnancy is not a joke" picture. I got 7 likes and so far not a single fake pregnancy announcment.

Twinkie0612 that really sucks, I'm so sorry. The bitchy co-worker's wife's pregnancy is the first one that has really hit me hard since we started IVF. My co-worker did tell me (after showing me the sonogram uninvited- ugh!) that they were having trouble and about to try an IUI when she got pregnant, so that helps a little.

I'm not on FB (I'm a weirdo, I know), but today I am so thankful for that. Sending lots of hugs to all of you who has to hear any insensitive announcements today. There should be a way to send online slaps to people instead of liking their statuses.

Thankfully I have not seen any (nor do I recall seeing any in the past). Perhaps since most of our friends already have kid(s) and only recently did we learn that several of them also went through IVF; they realize that isn't funny/appropriate, etc since you never know.

I have continued to see legitimate preg announcements from friends (not today though). And I saw one of my best friend's this weekend - she told me they are going to start trying for #2 once I told her that I don't want her to ever feel she can't tell me / talk to me about when they are trying for #2 (she has been extremely supportive and I would be happy for them when they do have their 2nd). I think the only thing that really bothers me is seeing the progression of 'bump' photos or numerous u/s on FB. I am happy (on most days at least) for those that are pregnant but don't need to see the weekly/monthly bump photos nor do I need to see the sonogram photos.

It's been a super long, busy day for me, so I haven't been able to check in much. I'll catch up with this thread tomorrow in full, but I wanted to say WOW about some of these! I have to admit--the one from the guy is a teeny bit funny to me, but the positive pregnancy tests should still be kept off FB. And for those whose best friends and siblings did this "prank"--do they KNOW about your IF????

Also, is the winner three "announcements"? Surprisingly I had none this year, which I think was a first. Probably because most of my friends have now had their babies. Sigh.

I had one "announcement" late in the evening, and it was definitely from someone who should have known better. I'm pretty sure she's done it every year. Back to being hidden for you!!
