Re: Favorite Lotion?

  • coconut oil makes a great moisturizer. bonus: it doesn't matter if they eat it. ;)

  • I don't moisturize the baby. Moisturizing too much isn't good for their skin. It makes the natural oils in their skin to not produce as much. If he gets a dry patch from eczema or what not I just put a little CJs on it.

  • We use cetaphil when we use anything.  Usually only when his eczema is flaring up, and then we'll just do it after his bath before bed.
  • We use Vanicream Lite every night all over. The pediatrician recommended it when he was younger and had eczema.
  • We don't usually use lotion, but if his skin gets really dry we use California Baby unscented lotion or natural oils.

  • We use aveeno on most of his body and aquaphor on the bad parts.  DS has eczema and gets very dry and itchy and scratches himself like crazy.

On DD we use aveeno whenever she asks for it.
  • We use Aveeno, and Aquaphor for chapped cheeks and nose

We use Shea Baby Lotion and Head to Toe wash. If you're curious about safety ratings, check out EWG's site Skin Deep. It's a great resource.
Agreed. EWG.org is great. We use Honest Company, Earth Mama Angel Baby, or Burt's Bees lotion.

I love Cerave. LO has dry skin sometimes on his cheeks and this always remedies it.

  • Another Cerave believer. We started using it with DD at the rec of our derm. I've used it to keep DS's eczema in check, and I also use it on my face- the moisturizing cream is amazing!

  • I didn't want to sound too terrible in my question, but I'm only asking cause I've never used lotion except for Aquaphor on cuts...if that even counts. I didn't know if that was a terrible thing to admit. Ha. But I've noticed lately that her legs feel a bit dry (borderline scaly like mine are all winter), so I mostly want something to get her feeling "healthy" again - if that's a thing for skin.

  • I only put Aveeno on any rough patches, normally nothing else.  The Aveeno wash we use is moisturizing so I don't see a need.  Sometimes I use Aquaphor instead.  And when DD is at MILs house and gets a bath she puts a few drops of baby oil in the water to keep her skin soft.
