SNS

Supplemental Nursing Systems
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supplemental_nursing_system

I was sitting on my bed nursing LO when out of the blue this popped into my head. I had supply issues with DS1 and never got one of these but toyed with the idea because its supposed to increase your milk supply greatly. The link above explains what it is, if you don't know.

I'm not sure if many of you ladies who are having supply issues have heard of this, and I can't search if its been discussed before, because mobile. But I know there have been a lot of talks about supply lately. Hopefully someone can find this useful. :)

P.S. Medela sells a few styles and they are decently priced if anyone was curious of brands.

Re: SNS

  • I used this when I first started nursing DS1. I had a breast reduction in 2001, but using this really helped my supply and I was able to transition to EBF fairly quickly.

  • I tried this in the hospital. It worked, but Garrett got too tired/frustrated with it and wasn't eating enough per feeding. It ended up causing me even more frustration, because I thought it was working, but then he just kept losing weight. The weekend we came home I just wanted him to eat & be healthy so we used bottles, now we've basically lost our latch completely. I feel bad because the LC sent me home with some SNSs and because of the frustration I didn't even try them at home and now I think it's too late.

I don't think it's too late. It's worth a try. I kept trying to BF my DS1 for MONTHS after I started pumping for him.
