Car Safety PSA

My friend is a police investigator and told me that, based on a recent case he worked on, it is very important to memorize your car's license plate number.

If, heaven forbid, your car were ever hijacked or stolen with LO inside, knowing the license plate makes it that much easier and faster to locate your car and find your kid(s)! 

I hadn't ever really thought about it, but I know lots of people don't have this number memorized.  Thought I'd share!

ETA: Just to add, in the case he worked on the car was recovered almost immediately and no one was hurt!

    This is good advice, thanks. This actually happened here a few weeks ago. A car was stolen from a gas station parking lot and the guy led police on a car chase for at least an hour. He ended up leaving the car with the 4 year old and hijacking another car (and eventually another) and the little boy was okay, thank goodness. 

    The chase actually went down the toll road right by my house. I was watching it on the news, but if I'd gone upstairs to either of my kids' rooms, I could've watched the car go by from their windows.

    Good tip. In my state (and maybe others as well), I have a paper registration card with license tag info and vin #. I keep it in my wallet because it shouldn't be kept in the car. So assuming my wallet isn't in my hijacked car, that's another source for this information.

    I have our Emergancy info in our family email account. That way DH can see it on his phone, our gardians can access our directives in written form when they log in. Everything from our insurance info, car details, where our medical medical records are kept, and who to contact for various things. I have even gone as far as keeping scanned copies of important documents in the event we are evacuated again.

    I'm also an over preparer. I have lived through, or very near some scary situations.

    Yep, I took a pic of both mine and DH's plates. DH also has the pictures in his phone.
