TTC After a Loss

^^^^^Healthy Living Check-In^^^^^

@Peggels24 is still sunning herself in Aruba so I'm stepping in :-)

We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise or anything in between. We check in on Mondays and follow up with an accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it is set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you are using MFP and have not found us yet, let us know so we can friend you!~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Ok ladies!  How are you all doing?  What do you have going on this week:
THE GOOD:
THE BAD:
THE PROUD:
THE PLAN:
QOTW:  What is your favorite food or drink? If I offered you $100,000 to give it up for life, would you?

I am so proud of all of you but in case you need some more motivation:

Re: ^^^^^Healthy Living Check-In^^^^^

  • Hi Friends!  Hope you are all doing well.

THE GOOD: I'm still off sweets, caffeine, sodas, etc. It's been over 2 weeks. WAHOO. I got over 85K steps last week even with a really low step day on Saturday because I was taking a rest day...
THE BAD: Hmmmm... I'm not feeling like there's too much bad at the moment.
THE PROUD: My Personal Training appt (I was so so so sore on Sat and Sunday), Run/walk for 3 miles yesterday, AND scale low this am. WAHOO!
THE PLAN: T25 Sunday - Thursday, gym workouts at lunch Monday - Friday and a rest day Saturday again. Also, eating only the foods I'm planning on eating and logging everything in MFP.
QOTW:  What is your favorite food or drink? If I offered you $100,000 to give it up for life, would you? I'd probably say ice cream or brownie batter... I think I'd be tempted to give it up for $100K, but not sure I could go a lifetime without some ice cream...

  • I'd like to re-join this check in... I kind of fell of the bandwagon for a while, but I'm trying to jump back on!

THE GOOD: Ran 4.04 miles yesterday with my new 1/2 Marathon training app!
THE BAD: SO STINKING SORE!!!! Also, had a few chocolate chip cookies yesterday and some soda... :( Also, one of my wisdom teeth is giving me major problems this week... hoping it goes away soon.
THE PROUD: at 3.2 miles yesterday, I beat my split timing for my 5K I ran back in October, pre-loss!
THE PLAN: NO MORE SODA!!!!! Also, eating healthier - more fruits and veggies. I'm taking my PNVs again, as well as a joint supplement.
QOTW:  What is your favorite food or drink? If I offered you $100,000 to give it up for life, would you? Fettuccine Alfredo and Garlic bread. No. I won't give that up - I love my carbs WAY too much!!!

  • @morethansparrows08 - way to go on the timing of your run and just getting the run in. That's awesome!  Are you going to cut sodas out cold turkey this week?  I'm here for ya if you need to vent about that. :-)  I'm a big carb fan too... never been big on fettucine alfredo, but I do love Garlic Bread... Side note (and a not so healthy one) - have you ever seen or made the pioneer woman's olive cheese bread?  I need to go run just thinking about it, but darn it it's good.

  • @MrsG80inTN Yes, I'm going cold turkey, and that's going to be hard because DH requested a case of soda when I went to the grocery store yesterday, so they're sitting on my kitchen floor taunting and tempting me... It's the first time I've bought a case of soda since like October or something like that, so it's a bit of a treat, but I just can't keep drinking them.  They make my tummy bloat (moreso than it already is) and I hate it.

I haven't tried the olive cheese bread, though we're pretty big fans of the Pioneer woman's stuff! (DH especially!)

I've been thinking about trying to do healthy smoothies for breakfast, but haven't had time to sit down and research recipes and buy all the stuff for them... if anyone here has a go-to recipe, I'd love it if you could share!

How are you MrsG? Sounds like you've got lots of workouts coming up - how do you like the T25? I've heard about it, but haven't been tempted to try it yet... sounds intimidating!

  • @morethansparrows - I love T25 actually... It's challenging, but I know it's working due to inches lost and also based on the fact that I was able to get running yesterday... I haven't even attempted a run in probably 2-3 months and was able to run more than I walked so the cardio aspect is definitely good for me.  It's hard though... but I can do 25 minutes!!!!!

As for smoothies - I'm just now getting into it, but a friend of mine signed up for the 30 day green smoothie challenge and sent me about 40 smoothie recipes.  I can email them to you if you're interested.  Also, google skinnytaste and smoothies.  She has some really good ones that I have tried.

The ones I've been doing are 2 cups spinach, 1 cup grapes, 3/4 pineapple (frozen), 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup water and ice.  It's really yummy.

  • @MrsG80inTN I'd love to see those recipes! DH and I tried it for a while, but we were sort of co-dependent, so when he quit, I quit... I'm over that now - I'm going to get fit whether he does or not. ;) I'm going to look into T25 for the days I don't run (I'll be running 3 days a week for my 1/2 marathon training).

  • @MrsG80inTN I would love to join you ladies since today is my Day 1 of getting back on track!

THE GOOD: I started WW again this morning and entered everything into my log so far! I also went for a 3 mile walk with my neighbor/bff at 6:00am!
THE BAD: I ate 3 mini kit-kats with my lunch (but I logged them!)
THE PROUD: Nothing just yet since today is #1 but I'm proud to be getting back on track!!
THE PLAN: The new RE I saw said he didn't want me doing any "hard core" exercising. I have no idea why, he was a little weird. It was a little like telling a lazy kid that they could play video games all of the time. I really feel in love with my Friday spin class so I'm not going to give that up but I guess I'll put off using my groupon for the crossfit place I brought. I am going to walk 3-4 times a week with my friend in the morning, do either pilates or yoga 2 days a week and my spin class on Fridays.

  • Welcome @Frenchteachermama - we are happy to have you along for the ride - sounds like you have a great plan.  And don't sweat the mini kitkats... logging them truly is half the battle... It's when I don't log them in that I get into serious trouble :-)  I'm amazed you do spin... my butt can't take it...e veryone says it gets easier, but I never could make it more than 3 classes :-)

@megrae12 - I do love a good sonic blast and indulged in one right before I went on this crazy no sweets, etc bender :-)  I'm hoping this week is better for your allergies so you can get back to your workouts.  I know it will help how you feel.

  • Hey y'all! Okay here goes... The good: took a 3.3 mile hike with hubby on saturday! Felt great and I can't believe I made it all the way through the trail! The bad: still up 5 pounds but I think it is the meds I am on and I take the last of those tomorrow.. Glad to be done with it soon it makes me feel hungry 24/7 The proud: sticking to my healthy diet, water intake, and exercise bike The plan: continue sticking to the diet and exercise and hope my appetite returns to normal when the meds are out of my system. QOTW: my favorite food is beef... Hamburgers, steak.... And I had to cut it out for my healthy diet... I only have beef once every 2 or 3 weeks.... I don't think I could give it up for any amount of money.. Not forever anyway... For a while sure but every once in a while i just need a burger... Lol

  • THE GOOD: The good was that when I went to the gym last week I went HARD at the gym and it felt amazing! I'm headed there after work and I actually can't wait for it! I found this pandora workout station and that may have been the ticket to getting me pumped up!

THE BAD: It was my best friend's 30th birthday on Saturday and while I ate great during the day it was OVER at dinner, then drinks, then cake, then cupcakes, then more drinks..bad news bears!

THE PROUD: I went and saw a nutritionist last week and have a plan in place for my health!!! It is a partial liquid plan with a protein shake accompanied by a piece of fruit for breakfast and lunch and then a high protein (lean meat, 2 servings of starch, and veggies) dinner with a 100 calorie snack. I was great with it everyday but Saturday last and am started off right today. Looking forward to a lovely salad topped with grilled chicken for dinner tonight! :) I will weigh myself on Friday mornings as my "official" weigh-in for myself.

THE PLAN: Keep up with the food plan and head to the gym 3-4 days this week. I'm also getting my mental/emotional health on by meeting with a grief counselor on Wednesdays after school, so that is going to be HUGE for me.

QOTW:  What is your favorite food or drink? If I offered you $100,000 to give it up for life, would you? My favorite food are cheeseburgers and my favorite drink (so bad) is Pepsi and for that money, you bet I would! :)

  • @LiaMadi - sounds like you've got a great plan!  Don't let the weekend fun derail you - sometimes a little change in the diet is needed.

What kind of shakes will you be doing?

Thanks for support, lady!  I was drinking chocolate ones from Glucerna, but then we found Atkins ones at the store for a good price so we got those.  The key from the nutritionist for me was to make sure the shake was 15-20 grams of protein and under 200 calories.  I also tried some protein powder with almond milk that my friend gave that was also really good.

  • May I join you ladies? Last week was my first week back in the gym and trying to eat better. I'd love to be able to be held accountable and provide support for you all.

THE GOOD: I had three good workouts last week. I ate pretty well except for Saturday.

THE BAD: I don't have anything this week. I'm easing back into things so I'm not too hard on myself with slip ups.

THE PROUD: I finally got my butt off the couch! I have been trying to make myself go back to the gym for weeks. I'm so glad I finally did. I always feel so much better when I get regular exercise.

THE PLAN: I'm meeting with a personal trainer twice a week, plus two more workouts on my own.

QOTW:  What is your favorite food or drink? If I offered you $100,000 to give it up for life, would you?
I love cheese! I couldn't give it up for 100k. Maybe if there was another zero on the end, but I doubt it.

  • @megdowntheshore - the run inside over the weekend sounds great as does your run yesterday!  Way to go lady.  I'm a big fan of Trader Joes... ours is about 30 mins away though and has TERRIBLE parking so I don't wind up going often, but I love it.  I do have to steer clear of the cheese aisle though :-)

@buttercup509 - Welcome to the thread!  Way to go on getting back to the gym.  Love your personal training plan - my trainer pushes me like crazy and it feels so good.  I love cheese too :-)
