AW: My bathroom reno is finally done!!

The Monday ticker change ladies have heard my rants and raves about my slightly delayed bathroom reno for over a month now, but last night we (mostly my husband) finished off the last little touches and installed the towel bar, shower curtain rod, etc. And then we went on a Target shopping spree for a new shower curtain, towel, shelving unit, etc.

My husband and father-in-law have put so much work into the demo, tiling and dealing with installing a modern bathroom into a 90 year old home for the past 4 weekends. They did an AWESOME job.

I need to scrub it down tonight to get rid of any leftover construction dust before we enjoy our first bath in the over-sized tub, but I am SO excited! And it got finished in time for our extended to April deadline!

PS: The blue thing on the side of the tun is a gift from my MIL, it's an arm rest for when you bath a little one ... we took these pictures to send them so we thought we should put it on the tub for the pictures.

I love it! Where'd you get the vanity/sink from? We are in the middle of two bathroom renovations and it's driving me nuts. It's like an "a la carte" menu. One bathroom has a function shower but no sinks. The other has functional sinks/toilet, but shower is not ready.

@bcnoelle The vanity is actually an Ikea kitchen cart that my husband modified into a vanity. It had castors and was island height, so he cut it down, and then drilled the top for the plumbing access. We oiled the top to withstand the water (same as you'd do if it was in the kitchen as it's meant for).

It has 2 stainless steel shelves, but only the bottom one is in right now. The plumbing is in the way of where the other shelf will go, so we need to get the stainless steel cut in half and it will be half the width (and cover the wooden support bar that's showing). But we need to find a specialty place that can cut the steel shelf and polish the rough edge for us.

Once the vanity is fully complete I think my husband should post it on Ikea Hackers. He thought of it after we searched for ever for a nice vanity for a vessel sink, they are really hard to find!

Thanks!! I know every Monday it was a rant or rave about the progress, but it was so worth the wait (and reno mess in the rest of my main floor). It's been nice to have an excuse to not have to clean that part of my house for the past little while, but I figure my house should be somewhat clean and baby ready for May!

Looks awesome! How much know how do u need to Reno a bathrm? Possible for a newbie to do? We may be doing some upgrades and would be a nice cost saving to do at least parts ourselves

@Susiepoo04‌ well my husband is fairly handy but not a professional handyman. But we know a professional plumber that installed the bathtub and shower/bath plumbing after my husband demoed everything. My father in law installs tile for a living, so the floor and tub surround were professionally done by him. Not the typical DIY situation for us, but I know lots of people that have redone their bathrooms themselves to some extent (we would have hired a plumber for the tub/shower install even if we didn't know someone personally to do that part anyway. That's not something you want to risk doing wrong). My husband installed all the shower trim, sink faucet, and installed the vanity and toilet himself.

I love it! The subway tile in the tub is nice and modern without being too trendy. Your design choices are great. The sink and vanity look amazing.

Thanks. I feel like subway tile never really goes out of style, so it's not like we'll feel we have to redo the bathroom in 5-7 years. We didn't want it to look so traditional that it was boring, but we also didn't want to go super trendy, so that we hate it in 3 years.

OP you must be really proud of DH. He's done such a good job. My DH is the absolute opposite and can't even hang a picture straight. I had to teach him how to paint when we did baby's nursery.
