I realized the other day as I tried to get my two year old interested in coloring with me...again...that he is totally different than me. I always loved to color and paint...why doesn't he? It occurred to me this child doesn't have that same creativity plug that I do. He likes to take batteries out of things, to locate where the batteries go, how does a key fit into a lock, find out how to put his toys under the doors, under the refrigerator and sometimes he seems to conduct his own mini experiments. Any suggestions for toys that would encourage him and be of interest to him?

My oldest is really into blocks and other manipulatives. If he can put it together and take it apart he loves it.
I do crafty things with him too but I usually leave it open ended. I'll just leave some paper and crayons/chalk out on the table or tape contact paper to a surface and set out a basket with paper scraps, cotton balls, flowers, tissue paper, ect.

I was going to post this. My DD's favorite thing is to 'fix' things. She LOVES this and can do it with just a little bit of daddy's help.
