Silly formula ?

Once the bottle is mixed (before it touches LO's lips) how long before you need to use it? I know it's an hour from the time the baby's lips touch the bottle, and it's 24 hours in the refrigerator. I didn't know if I could mix the bottle & have it at room temperature for the MOTN feeding. Right now I keep 2 bottles in master bathroom so I can just add water & feed.

I don't know the answer but I always do an hour for that too. Though it'd be awesome if it was longer.

it will tell you on the bottle of formula... ours says only one hour.

2 hours. But I always have 2 bottles made and stick them in a closed thermal bag with an ice pack inside so they're ready for MOTN feedings. That way they stay "fresh" through the night. The bag is in our bedroom where LO sleeps, much more convenient than having to run downstairs to get one outta the fridge.

For MOTN feedings, we just put the water in the bottles and measure out the formula in a container like this one. We keep it all in the nursery and just mix the bottles at night as we need them.

We don't really have problems with bubbles. I mix the bottle first, change him, then feed- so there's time for them to dissipate. Also, I find that swirling the bottle instead of shaking it works well.

I measure out the formula & have it in the bottles then add water. It's all sitting on the bathroom counter. I guess there's no other easy way lol.

We use Similac sensitive & we always gave bubbles but she doesn't seem to mind & has no problems.

My LO just slept 5 hours!!!! And went 6 in between feedings. You know it's bad when you wake up at their "usual" MOTN feeding and they are still snoozing & you are wide awake

Hmmm I just googled this & it didn't really say one way or another. I guess by adding the powder 1st you could get shorted some when you add the water. I'll ask my ped what she recommends. Hope it doesn't matter too much because this is what I've been doing since Wednesday when I quit BF

As long as you are adding exactly the amount of water you are supposed to - ie. if it calls for 2 oz h2o per scoop - make sure you measure out 2oz h20 to add to the bottle - don't just add water to the 2 oz fill line.

The reason there is concern here is that if the ratio of formula to h2o is too high, it can cause dehydration issues and kidney problems. Definaitely check with you pedi - but I say, when in doubt just follow the directions as they are on the packaging.
