Where is your uterus? (doppler question)

I know your uterus is 'supposed' to be in the middle of your stomach below your belly button at these early stages of pregnancy. I'm 9 weeks 2 days and I've been able to find baby's heartbeat on my doppler for a week now BUT it's always way to the left of my lower stomach. Everything I Google shows the uterus to be in the center? Hmmm....

Re: Where is your uterus? (doppler question)

  • Maybe your baby implanted on that side of your uterus? I'm assuming you have made sure it isn't your heartbeat.

  • It's baby's for sure. I can find mine and baby's is twice as fast. I found the heartbeat this early as well when I was pregnant with my son. I'm just not sure why it's so far to the left. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning so I'll definitely ask her while I'm there.

Baby definitely implanted on the left and was on the left side during my first transvaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks 3 days. The dr said everything looked fine so I didn't even think twice about it at that point.
  • the baby is just likely implanted on that side, but it is still WAY down there, like below your pubic bone

  • Drs can't even hear that early. It could be your heartbeat that you're picking up.

It depends on the quality of their Doppler. Many just won't try that early because it can be hard to find and depend on many factors. I am very thin and could hear my son's on my Doppler at 9.5 weeks and my angel baby's at 8 wk 4 days. Some women ant find it till much later though, especially if the placenta is on top.

  • I found both my girls at 9 weeks and it was super low.

  • With DS we found it at 8 weeks 6 days at my midwife's.

Then from week 15-34, it took them ten minutes every time to find his HB at my OBs. Haha. But yeah, little one probably is hanging out on the left side.

  • Just left doctor's office. She found the baby's heartbeat within 5 seconds right in the middle! I guess the baby must of just been hanging out to the left these past few days.
  • Dr can hear that early. Heart starts to develop at week 5. My friend just heard the heart beat at her first ultrasound and they said she was 8w3f

There's a difference between "hearing" it on an ultrasound and hearing it on a doppler. On the ultrasound, you are hearing a computer-generated rhythm based on the flicker on the screen, you are not hearing the actual heartbeat.

  • @abbyful‌ that's really interesting. I'm on my 3rd baby and I didn't know that.
