Re: OT Condiment Poll

  • And obviously SS must be explained so as to promote conversation ;)
  • I would have pegged you for a homemade mayo gal, @Mapleme.

I voted SS because I avoid both at all costs.

  • I voted mayo, but we do home made mayo.  DH loves it (mayo on freaking everything).  I rarely use it, only for special foods.  DS1 is a mustard freak. He will eat it with a spoon if you let him.  I am a ketchup person.  In highschool I used to make money at work betting coworkers how many shots I would do of ketchup.  Oh, my misspent youth!

  • Sorry! I snuck in a brief intro with a nb stash question a few days ago. I know those are a dime a dozen around here.

  • We have both, but rarely use either. It is a little bit of a debate in our house, but we love each other anyways.
  • Newb chiming in, but in the debate between mayo and MW, I believe The Oatmeal put it best

Mayo all the way, preferably Dukes.
This, all the way. I totally forgot about that cartoon! Thanks for reminding me.

  • I'm normally a mayo girl.  The one exception is BLTs.  For some reason I like MW on those.  I blame my dad, who was a MW fiend.

  • I'll take avocado over both.

    Mustard is my favorite.

Or horseradish spread.   And then you add mustard to it.

The answer is ketchup. I don't know why this is a question. Except when pregnant, then mustard is also acceptable. But ketchup is the correct answer.
There was a reason ketchup was not an option.  It's the worst condiment. Unless it's homemade.  Then it's the bomb.

I just knew you would have something ridiculous to say.  I do need to make my own ketchup though.  I've been wanting to... do you have a specific recipe you use?  I'm worried I'll put heinz out of business if I quit buying though.

Because you're surprised that your recipe for homemade ketchup came up during a CD mayo/MW poll?  Come on stoney, even I could have guessed that was going to happen.

  • I believe mayo and miracle whip are like ketchup and mustard. Completely different. I used to like miracle whip for like tuna salad and deviled eggs and stuff but liked mayo on hot dogs and burgers. Now I pretty much just use mayo tho.
NOOOO, tell me you do NOT put mayo on hot dogs!   :-&

I am a die hard mayo on pretty much everything kinda gal. I tried to give it up once since it's so bad for you, but nothing compares.

  • Okay, I looked it up. I just always called those corned beef sandwiches, and since I don't like sour kraut, I've never eaten one.

For the love of God, why do you hate all of the good food?
  • Apparently, Dr. Todd thinks mayo is good for you. https://naturalsportsmedicine.blogspot.com/2007/04/mayonnaisepart-iilet-truth-be-told.html  Unfortunately, he lost me at the part where I'm killing my kid by feeding him trans fats in 90% of his diet. Seriously, now I have to go read some labels and find all the evil fat.

You should try making your own.  It's so much better.  And it's not hard to make.

I keep hearing about Dukes mayo on tb.  It's not available where I live.  Is it worth ordering online to try?  Or is it just a loyalty thing?
