FET Meds Pricing

I saw in another thread ladies referencing what their medication pricing was for their FET. It got me curious. I've been estimating like $2,000-$3,000 for medication and I'm hoping I'm overestimating.

What was your FET medication protocol and how much did you spend for medications?
I'm more interested in people who paid for the meds OOP, because I don't have insurance that covers anything.

Supposedly I will be on Doxy, Steroids, Lurpon 3 weeks, and estrogen patches.

Re: FET Meds Pricing

  • Im not familiar with the cost of the meds you will be taking. But I was only prescribed Del Estrogen and PIO for my FETs. My meds are covered by insurance, but I get an OOP quote before the pharmacy runs insurance, and I was quoted about $400.00.

Man, I hope that I'm overestimating.

Did anyone else take Lupron wit their FET?

  • Do you have prescription coverage at all? Those drugs are commonly used to treat other issues and may be covered.  Have the pharmacy run it just in case if you do have insurance.

If you don't have any insurance, doxy and dex will not run more than $20 in my experience, lupron will be around $100.  I've never used estrogen patches so I can't help there.

  • Meds for my FET cycle were $410.  The cost drivers were the PIO (2 vials at $70 each) and the endometrin (about $260).  The other stuff was covered by insurance and added up to a few dollars here and there.

For my IVF cycle my insurance covered doxy and dex. It did not cover estrogen patches or any of the injectables.

How long were you on Lupron for? It seems like they will have me on it for almost a month, a little over 3 weeks I think.

I have only done fresh, but I was on 10 units of lupron for a week and barely used any of the medicine in the vial. If you are on the same/similar dose you should have plenty.

My pio is inexpensive as well- only $36/vial.

    I ordered everything through Freedom.

Great! Thanks for the info, girl! I'm estimating that it may be about $400 for Lupron then?

I would guess 1/2 that maybe depending on your dose. Like I said, after a week of 10 units/day I had more than 1/2 a vial left.

  • Insurance covered my steroid, Valium, and doxycycline.

Freedom charges $99-149 for the leuprolide, depending on if you purchased stim meds in the past. PIO is about $36/vial. Vivelle patches were about $88/box of 8.

My first set of meds was about $1500 that included 3 cartridges of 600iu Follistim, ganirelix, pio and pregnyl. That was only because of a discount. Had to do a second round of Follistim and that itself cost $1500.00 no insurance for these meds suck some serious donkey butt. :/ ......ETA: haven't made it any further so not sure of patches and the like.

  • By Doxy I'm assuming you mean doxycycline, the antibiotic? It is usually cheap. The patches I'm not sure, but the lupron 2 week kit is 198, and last time I did my fet it lasted almost an entire month because my doses were so small.

  • Just picked up my meds for FET #1.  Viagra suppositories ran $40 at specialty clinic-no insurance.  Estradiol, Vitamin E, and Trental covered by insurance-$20 total at CVS.  Steroid, doxy (antibiotic), PIO with needles, Gel stuff for the night before (can't remember the name) ran $20 for all.  PIO was not covered by insurance, again at CVS.  My biggie is Neupogen.  $900 for three, insurance won't cover.  But without that, and it's my understandig not everyone takes that, the meds are really quite affordable in comparison to the stim cycle.

@geordie314‌ My insurance doesn't cover Lovenox either, but they do cover the generic. Maybe ask about that. Also, my insurance doesn't cover anything to help get pregnant, but has great coverage after a positive test- if yours is similar maybe just order the number of injections you will bee to get you through beta.
