Drama already? UPDATE #2

UPDATE #2: the bad news is that they just can't get the poor pup's seizures under control. The vet has recommended putting her down. It is my friend's husband's dog, so I feel so bad for her that she has to do this alone, and for her husband that he can't be there. What a sad day.

UPDATE #1: the good news is the kids and the nanny are back at my house, and the kids are napping. No news yet on the pup. I'll post back if I hear anything, and at the end of the day when I get home. Bc I know you are all dying to know how things end.

And the day started out so promising!

Although it isn't anything the nanny has done. But we are doing a nanny share with another family. The kids and the nanny were at my house, and for some reason the other mom went to her house. She found her dog having a seizure. The seizure lasted over an hour, but the dog was too big for her to get into her car by herself, and none of her neighbors were home. So she asked me if it was okay to go pick up the nanny and the kids and take them to her house, have the nanny help her load up the dog, then leave the nanny and the kids at her house until she got the dog to the vet and situated.

Well, that's really scary for her, and I'm really sorry about the dog, and this makes for a hectic first day for the nanny and the kids, but okay. Do what you have to do. Well, then she called back, and the seizure is still ongoing and she doesn't know how to get her to the vet clinic, so the nanny is riding in the back with the dog, and the kids are in the carseats, and they're all going to the vet together.

This is not how I expected the first day to go down! Plus her carseats are both front-facing, so that makes me nervous too. If you can spare a thought for us with all this drama, it would be much appreciated. I hope this isn't a bad sign.

And... I was thinking this was all taking place in our neighborhood, but I just realized that she still uses the vet from where she lived before, which means freeway time. And I'm sure she's distracted and upset. Oh I'm starting to panic!!!

Oh TJ! I'd be freaking out too! FX that all goes well and they can get home very soon. Does this other woman have a husband? If so, she needs to get him involved ASAP with this situation. It's not ok to drag all the kids and nanny into this mess

I understand it's very upsetting for her, but this is so not ok. I hope this is the last of the drama for you!

She does, but he is out of the country right now. I know if it were me and my dogs, I would do whatever I had to do. But this is really stressing me out!

Oh man. I can imagine how stressful that is for you, TJ. I am so sorry the first day started like this

For future reference, there are pet ambulance companies that would really help out in an emergency like this. Our Apollo is 192 lbs, so if my husband and family were unable to help, I would call them.

I'm glad everything turned out ok for E, but maybe time to have a discussion about emergency protocol. Yikes!! I would be uneasy.

@pennylane26 Exactly! We did realize that we don't have certain things in place, like copies of the kids' insurance cards, and documentation that the nanny can receive health information about them if she had to take them for care. So much I never thought about.

Ugh that is totally not cool! Humans come before animals and there are such things as animal ambulances. The kids should have stayed home with the nanny and she should have called her husband or a police officer to help her. The kids should not have been out in a situation like that what if the dog contracted something? And the nanny shouldn't have been put in that situation either.

Sheesh! That is a crazy situation, one that likely would NEVER, EVER happen again in a million years. I feel like the other mom should have tried to get someone else to help rather than disturbing the kids, but maybe she did try and just wasn't able to find anyone else. I hope that E (and the other LO) weren't too frazzled by all of the activity.

Thanks for the support throughout the day ladies. It was hard for me, and harder I'm sure for the nanny and the other mom.
