February 2013 Moms

What activities do you have LO in?

DS is in his 3rd round of swimming lessons. I'm thinking of trying out gymnastics or finding music lessons of some sort.

What do you have your kids in?

Re: What activities do you have LO in?

  • Nothing right now. There is neither enough time nor money for that at this point. When he gets a little older, I'm considering some form of martial arts.

  • DS is in daycare and does lots there so nothing additional as of right now but we are going to start either a music class or little gym on saturday mornings. Not sure which yet...
  • We will be doing a waterbabies swim class on Saturdays starting in May. We go to a Mommy and Me music class on Weds. when I am on school vacations and during the summer. We'll probably try library story hours this summer, too.

  • Gracie goes to storytime on wednesdays, thats the only day we can go because I dont work that day. She can start mommy and me ballet when she is 18 months. I am strongly considering that, but I WONT be wearing a leotard LOL she can though :)

Aw, that's adorable. And I feel you on the leotard. It'll be awhile before I even wear a tankini to the beach :P

  • C does dance class (1 hr 1 day a week, ballet and tap combined) and has CCD once a week.

E gets to tag along. That counts as an activity, right? Lol

I'm not planning much for the summer because I worry I'll just be overwhelmed between the heat and being pregnant. I need to get C Into swim lessons. She has never passed because she was always afraid to swim. But last summer She actually started swimming pretty good so maybe this year will be different. I'm saving baby swim for next winter to get us out of the house one on a while! DH already said he would help with lessons and take E sometimes. :)

    I count it ;)

  • I'm jealous of everyone who lives near things to do with your baby! There is not much around here. I try to get to a breast feeding group once a month or so. I went very week when he was little, but it is hard to chase him around now.
  • Nothing right now, mostly for lack of money, and DD is pretty good about entertaining herself at home. We're planning on spending a lot of time at the pool/beach during the summer though. I was a swim instructor and lifeguard when I was in high school, so I'll be giving DD lessons myself.

  • We do a free story time puppet show (which is more entertaining than it is educational, though they slip some education in there where they can!) and a free early literacy class called "babies and books" at our local library. Both of these are once a week and they are activities she and I do together.

In June I will buy weekly swimming classes until she feels confident in the water. In September I want to pay for a weekly music and dance class that we would also do together.

Since the weather is warmer down here we are going to volunteer once a week at a friend's farm which I count as a learning experience even if it isn't a class.

  • nothing so far. i keep saying i'm going to enroll him in something. i wanted to do swim, but the swim centers around here offer Waterbabies (or Aquatots, whatever it's called) either Saturday morning, or at night, which makes no sense to me.

  • All of these sounds so fun!  When M was younger, we did a baby playgroup, a mom's group hike and park play, library babytime 2x/week, swimming, and a music class.  We quit swimming because it seemed to be she would get sick for a week after it.  And then we quit everything else because I had morning sickness and everything was scheduled for the morning, which meant I was probably throwing up.  I'm sure this has been a disservice to M b/c I replaced these things with TV.  I would love to do ballet or gym class, but she needs to be slightly better on her feet.  Most of those things require PTing first, so I'm sure we won't be enrolling in those for a while.
  • Nothing right now....she is 13 months old :)  However, I might do a swim class this spring.  In general I believe balance is really important in this area and kids are too over-scheduled nowadays it seems.  We plan to stick to one activity at a time to allow for time to do service projects, have family time and just be a kid.

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013.  We love her to pieces.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011.  She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

  • We need an outdoors club.  I take M to the adult outdoors club hike sometimes but they are so fast and long and not very forgiving for those who can't keep up.  M gets tired, even in a stroller.  The moms' club people are so picky about outdoor stuff. It has to be over 70 and under 75 F for most of the moms to think the temp is appropriate for a walk or playground playdate.
  • I do not do much with my kids until they are older preschoolers.  My third son is about to start t-ball and swimming.  These will be his first activities.  My oldest son plays basketball in the winter, baseball in the fall and spring, sings in children's choir, boys' scouts and music class.  My second son does the same thing minus scouts since he is not old enough and basketball because he is not interested.  I try to get it so my sons are on the same team/activities to minimize the carting around.  It is going to be tough now that a third one is in the mix.
  • Nothing for us either. We were going to story time, but haven't gotten back since Christmas. We really need to. I don't really feel the need to have her in activities this young. We will have enough of that when she is older.
