June 2014 Moms

*Born to Run Junebug Check In*

This is a weekly thread for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.

Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.

How were your runs this week? Lay it on us...

How do you reward yourself after races (if you reward yourself)?

Re: *Born to Run Junebug Check In*

  • My Runs:  Great. I ran about a total of 10-10.5 miles total, including a 5k Saturday night.  Our time was slow, but I really just had fun with my husband and I was excited to run the whole thing.  I feel like I have an excessive amount of "gear" to run with now... HR monitor strap and watch, Gabrialla band, ipod, water...  Its like packing to go for a run! It has been gorgeous in East Texas (minus a quick thunderstorm), so we've been running outside a lot more.  I also made myself do my yoga video I shared last week once.  I need to make sure to shoot for twice maybe this week!

GTKY:  I reward myself by eating large quantities of food. Preferably pancakes.  Saturday night we went out and I got chocolate chip banana pancakes, and I ate my husbands eggs. Had it not been 11 at night I would have probably gotten a chocolate shake too.  The first few runs I did I "rewarded" myself with time off from running, but I hated running back then.

  • How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... Last week went well. I got in a 3 mile power walk on the treadmill, 3.5 miles running outside and a 6 mile trail run on Saturday. I needed that longer run badly and I'm feeling a lot more confident in my abilities now. I wanted to do a short recovery run on Sunday but ended up painting my master bedroom all day instead. Oh well. 12.5 miles for the week is still okay in my book!
How do you reward yourself after races (if you reward yourself)? For a 1/2 or full marathon, I usually reward myself with beer and food. Not necessarily in that order. I usually eat, pass out for a few hours, and then drink. ;) Anything shorter I just reward myself with a rest day the next day. And maybe pancakes.

  • hey runners!

runs this week: runs and workouts went great!  i ran 4 miles on saturday and even passed some people.  always makes me laugh when people take note of my big ole belly running by them on the boardwalk haha!  i also went to yoga and bootcamp classes.  i can even still do some burpees which makes my class laugh.  no, i dont slam my belly on the ground, they are modified burpees but i am still finishing them!

reward: definitely beer and food!  i am a believer of carb loading after a run too :)

  • Hi - happy Monday!

Workouts went well last week - did something everyday whether it was just walking, doing the elliptical, or doing some strength.  I see lots more walking than elliptical in my very near future though!

After races, I always go out to eat for whatever I'm craving (usually lots of salt!) and maybe some ice cream.  And I usually treat myself to a pedicure the day after too!
