S/O lowering cribs, MOTY here

Spent 4 hours last night in the emergency room d/t J pulling up (who knew he could?) and flipping out of his crib. He landed on his head, and it scared me to death. He was screaming, so I picked him up and comforted him, but when he settled down his eyes rolled back in his head and he did this weird gasping thing, so I flicked him on the feet and he cried again. I called the ambulance because I was so freaked out, but by the time they got there he was acting fine and grinning at them. I was home alone with both boys, but my mom came over to take me and J to the ER while DH stayed with A. We got a CT scan and he was fine, no vomiting or other symptoms since. Their mattresses are now on the lowest level, and they are super hard to reach in there! I have a feeling that was my first of many scary injuries.

  • How scary! I think the paramedics would be needed to restart my heart after that :(
  • How scary! I'm glad everything checked out!
  • Oh my god! So glad he's ok!
  • Yikes! So glad he is OK. I lowered ours as soon as he sat up on his own and literally the next day we caught him standing in his crib. They grow up SO FAST!
  • Thanks y'all! Yesterday morning DH had been like "I probably need to lower those mattresses again soon..." And I agreed, but was comfortable waiting a few more days or whatever. A little sorry about that. He's handling it like a champ, just fussy- that might have something to do with not sleeping til after midnight! Luckily DH could stay home with him today!

  • So totally could happen to anyone.

DD fell out of bed one night. She screamed so loud, but in my half asleep mind I thought it was a cat, so I just hit H to go deal with the cat. Then realized nope, that's my baby, on the floor, scared to shit.

So glad everything was alright! Crazy babies keeping us on our toes.

  • This is so scary and I'm glad your LO is alright.  I imagine it was probably tougher on you!

I just made DH read this because Adeline learned 2 days ago how to pull herself up when in her crib.  We have had her in a co-sleeper next to us and the sides on that are only 6 inches high and she almost pulled herself out of it last night.  Going right now to convert it!
