Back Pain: Epi?

Has anyone experienced any lingering back pain from an epidural?  Last weekend (6 weeks PP) I started feeling an achy burning in my back and now a week later it is still there.  I thought it was due to sleeping on the couch a few nights and bending over a million times with LO.  Throughout the day I will get a burning sensation over my back that feels like a sunburn and some pain around the site of my epidural.  I had postponed calling the doctor thinking I had pulled something, but the pain is not leaving.  It seems like the more I sit the worse it gets. Could it be a pinched nerve?

I do have an appointment scheduled with a chiropractor tomorrow, but wondering if it is something more serious.  Of course I am somewhat of a hypochondriac, so the more I google, the more anxiety I have.  I guess I am just looking for someone that has had similar experiences whether from an epidural or not.  Please calm my nerves.

Re: Back Pain: Epi?

  • Almost 8w PP and I experienced this up until last week. Seems to have finally gone away but hopefully your chiro/doc will have advice!
Sorry to hear you are in pain also, but I am glad to hear I'm not the only one.  Google is dangerous!

I got my first epi in2010, I have since had 4, and I have been hurting since. As time goes on you won't hurt everyday, but you will most likely experience back pain on occasion from it for the rest of your life.

    Sorry you are hurting.

  • @mamacrunch that was my fear.  Does your pain sound similar, even the burning?

But it into always the full force, most if the time it is just achey around my punctures.

  • I had this with DS. It lingered for about 6 months-ish and resolved on its own. It was annoying, but not debilitating or painful enough to bring it up after my 6w visit.

It was noticeably worse if I bent over the crib for a while or was doing any other activities where my torso was at a 45ish degree angle.

  • Yep. I had horrible back pain after Epi w DD. I was in aninor fender bender when she was 4 months old and ended up with herniated disc surgery. I truly believe the Epi contributed to weakibg of my spine which led to the herniation.

I hope that your pain goes away soon! Don't have a fender bender!
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!
