I rarely mouth breathe so oral works for me.

I don't temp much anymore, but when I do, I temp orally.

I don't temp. It's an UO around here but I would spend too much time analyzing my temps and have a permanent seat on the crazy train. I've used only OPKs for the past 4 cycles with a definite positive and 13-14 day LP each time. I do it knowing I could have a wonky cycle at any time but as long as I realize that, I think it's totally fine. I still acknowledge temping as the most accurate way to confirm O, though

Vaginally. I don't sleep with my mouth open or breathe through my mouth, but if I get a stuffy nose around O I don't want the risk of ruining a chart because of it. Vaginally is just much more consistent and not any extra work.

I started temping vaginally this cycle. My chart is still crazy looking but I feel like it's at least more accurate bc sometimes when I sleep I mouth breathe and sometimes I don't :)...I'm wondering how I'm gonna temp once AF gets here though. What do you ladies do?

You can stop temping during the heavy af days and resume when your flow has mostly stopped. A lot of ladies don't bother during their period.

I think I'll probably opt to take a temp break during AF too @MrsWaffles‌

I voted SS- I haven't temped in the past, nor do I currently, but I plan to start pretty soon here. Just giving myself a little time before I delve into all of that.

Also, do you have to buy a special thermometer for vaginal temping? Or will a regular bbt work?

I have a regular bbt and it said "oral or vaginal use" on the packaging... I assumed that implied that any bbt thermometer could be used either place, but that could be incorrect.

I do orally but I had a question. Would you be able to switch between the two and not mess up the results? I'm thinking about switching to vag because I've been sick (and I got promoted today!!! Time for drinks!) and with it being this close to ovulation I don't want to mess up my charts more than I already have.

DaBearsFansWife-Switching mid cycle is a big no-no. You will have higher temps from Vag temping so that could throw your charts way off. Switch once AF comes.

I've been temping orally for my first cycle but I am a frequent mouth breather and my temps are crazy rocky. I should probably try vaginal temping. How bad is it to switch mid cycle?
  • Options
I temped for almost a year. When I got bogged down with TTC, I quit. Now, on our 18th cycle, I think I may start again. I'm a mouth breather & didn't see shift for the last 2 or 3 cycles that I temped (I know I did O bc of 7DPO checks at my OB); so I'm sure if I start back, it'll be vaginally.

Orally. but if I'm not preggers this month I think I'm going to try vaginally for the next cycle.

I've always done it orally, but have wonky charts, so after reading all these comments about vaginally, I may consider switching :)

Oral. I would do vaginally if my chart were crazy or I felt I was a mouth-breather, but my chart is pretty "solid" and not all over, so I'm sticking with that.
