Compassionate Care or First Steps - did you qualify for a decent discount?

Did you qualify for a decent discount?  Does anybody get 75% off of meds?

If you don't want to disclose your financial situation publicly you can PM me.  I appreciate any feedback.

Based on if we qualify we'll decide how many cycles we can afford in the package or if we can do CCS/PGS.  I'm horrified we won't have enough $$$.  Please don't tell me I shouldn't have children if i can't afford the treatment.

Thank you ladies:)

PS.  We just moved and make very little money ~$42K/year combined.

Re: Compassionate Care or First Steps - did you qualify for a decent discount?

  • We are/were graduate students and our income for the past two years was just about the same as yours (maybe a little less). We applied for the Compassionate Care program and they gave us 50% off. We didn't apply for the other one because my doctor didn't prescribe any of the meds that it's good for.

Thank you for sharing.  I keep hearing about people not getting anything and I was getting depressed.  I really hope we get at least 50% off.  If we do we will have enough money for CCS/PGS with my diagnosed RPL.

I really, really appreciate your feedback!

  • We moved and chose a much more laid back life style which came with much lower earnings.

I make less than half of what I made 2 years ago but I do have a life now and enjoy it so much more.

IF really sucks and there should be better solution than what we do and go through.  I really hope that there will be a change in the way this disease is treated.

  • We didn't qualify, but we did get 25% off with First Steps. Everyone who applies gets at least that! So, that was even a little helpful!

We made more than you and qualified for 50%.... Not sure if you've sent your paperwork in yet but I was told when I called them that they are willing to consider ANY paperowrk you send in along with your application. So, I faxed them a cover letter saying a quick "history"... literally half a paragraph along with the application and all our charges/printouts from our RE visits, previous IVF cycles... I'm not sure if those helped us get 50% off but I'd try to send AS MUCH info as possible!

  • We made a little more than y'all and qualified for 50% off w/ Compassionate Care.  It has really been a huge help.  The meds get so expensive.  I know it's a bummer- good luck!

Thank you ladies!  I looks I have a chance of getting 50% or maybe more.  I was told on multipule ocassions that I won't qualify for more than 25%, that you have to be below poverty level.  I guess it is not entirely true.

Thank you! This helps a lot in my frantic search for answers!

I received an email about First Steps after IVF #2 and on a whim applied, since it clearly said in my email that everyone that applies receives a discount.  I received an email from them saying that we do not qualify for a discount, but we still get the "base" price.  I replied telling them that it was wrong to claim that everyone get's a discount and then go back on that claim, I also attached a copy of the original email.  They ended up sending me a 25% off discount code.

Thanks for sharing.  I guess 25% is better than none.  I'm rally hoping for more so I can save some $$$ and do CCS/PGS.  Never thought I woudl say that, but I wish I was rich!
