High-Risk Pregnancy

Pacemaker

Anyone with a pacemaker. DD 11/19. Scared would like some advice.

Re: Pacemaker

  • Hi @Michelle691‌ I have a pacemaker and am now pregnant with my 2nd. My DS is now 18 months and although he arrived at 35 weeks due to Pre-e with HELLP he is perfectly heathy! My pacemaker is due to a condition known as autonomic dysfunction/neuro cardio genie syncope. My BP and HR crash without warning causing me to pass out. I also have history of heart ablations. My pregnancy went fine other than the pre-e at the end. I actually never felt better. I was closely monitored by both an OB and a high risk OB p,us my electrophysiologist. I was a scheduled c for first and will be for this one too bc docs were worried my heart would crash. I didn't mind. If it was what would keep both of us healthy! Feel free to PM me or post questions. Happy to help. Good luck.

  • Thank you. I have the same condition as you do. Funny how that works. My cardiologist told me I would be in bed rest by 12 weeks. I am only 6 weeks 5 days and already my BP is dropping. I just hope to be able to work as long as possible. We heard the heartbeat today it was at 133BMM so I was very happy.
  • Its pretty common to have the BP drops till week 16 or so. I've actually passed out 5 times since BFP and honestly before that it had been like 3 years. I get presync frequently but pacer usually kicks in and catches it. Guess the hormones create havoc? Then it levels out. Last pregnancy I felt best during 2nd tri. Actually best I'd felt since I originally started passing out at 24. My EP jokes with me that I should just stay pregnant! I was able to work up till the day before I delivered. The fatigue that came along with 3rd tri was not helpful. Caused some additional symptoms, but I managed. Tried to rest when I could. This time...not sure that will work chasing a 17 month old! 133 is great! It's a beautiful sound isn't it?

  • I wish I could work as long as possible the problem is that I stand for 8 hours a day and doc says with the BP dropping and standing is making it drop more. My pacemaker is kicking in at 60bmm and seems like it is pacing more often now. I just hope the 2 tri makes it better for me. Thank you for helping me with this.
