You may remember my post from two days ago that we were proceeding with ER even though we very unexpectedly only had 4 follicles. My ER called each follicle beautiful and still felt we had a really good chance. ER was today and this morning I felt really crampy. I mentioned it to my nurse and she said it was normal. Low and behold, all four "beautiful" follicles are gone. My RE said he's never seen this before. He did, however, manage to find 3 more that were hidden and retrieved each. Of course it's very early, but each looks good as of right now. I am, however, mentally preparing for nothing to transfer. I think I'll need a miracle at this point. My RE seems to agree as his parting words to me were that we'd change everything for next time. Thoughts and prayers certainly appreciated.
Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. I'll keep my FX for you that your 3 are doing something amazing today! I know it's hard to be positive in such a difficult situation, so we'll all just be positive for you!

2 frosties waiting for us, November 2013!!!!! Transferred 2 "average" blasts 11/20/2013
Thank you for your kind words. I'm sure I'll be a roller coaster this week, but right now I am still glad we decided not to cancel. If we had converted to IUI, we likely would not have discovered my premature ovulation and my next cycle may have ended the same way. Plus we'll get to see how they fertilize. I'm calling Mulligan! My insurance will pay for 3 cycles, so we should be able to move onto #2 rather quickly so long as my body cooperates. Also, I feel like this is shedding some insight to my unexplained IF. Assuming we don't make it to transfer, I'll try to get us in for a WTF appt this week. I'll be a hot mess regardless, but I feel like I'd rather not make it to transfer then transfer and get my hopes up again. Plus having to take the estrace and endometrin for nothing. @pblge This was the antagonist protocol which my clinic uses for high responders (pffffft). However, on paperwork, I look like I should be one. We added Ganirelix on the 6th day of stims.
Oh gosh I am so sorry! That is always my worst fear. I really think they should do u/s and or whatever other tests they can do before they go in to retrieve. That is so unfair. I agree. I thought that, as well. Why not do a simple ultrasound before they put you under just to be sure..

Me: 40, DH: 42
Diagnosis: PCOS
TTC: May 2013
TX: IUI #1 with Follistim. Canceled due to too many follicles (10 + that were large); BENCHED
Did you have bloodwork the last week everyday leading up to retrieval? It would have caught your ovulation. I think you may need closer monitoring, every cycle is different and your follicles will grow at different rates, the meds will be dictated by your follicle sizes and bloodwork. Ps, I have ovulated through double ganarilex shots but I knew before er bc of the monitoring.
@Ihope Yup. The only day that I didn't have monitoring was the day between trigger and ER. My understanding is that this is standard. I have a suspicion that next time I will come in on the day prior to ER. My clinic is large and has a good reputation. I really do believe that no one could have predicted this outcome.
IVF #1 went badly for me in a somewhat similar way, as I'm also a high responder. They tried me on the antagonist protocol and it was a disaster. I think the Long Lupron cycle is better for high responders--even Dr. Sher has said this--although the risks of OHSS are somewhat higher. I'm pretty sure I ovulated on Ganirelix during this last IVF/IUI, too.
Fingers crossed that none of this matters, and that one of this little embies is your take home baby. I've ridden the IVF disaster train before, and it's terrible, but it really only does take one good emby!!!

GIRL! This WHOLE ENTIRE process is crazier than a roller coaster. It's like jumping from the Space Needle and hoping your cord isn't too short or too long. That gut feeling up and down up and down. You are a CHAMPION and I know that even if this one isn't it - you WILL have a great shot with the next one given how much you AND the RE have learned this cycle. My RE basically said the first one is a crap shoot and they 'try to judge' but they aren't clairvoyant as to what will happen. Here's hoping one of your three is as much of a CHAMPION as you are.
(I don't want to seem like I'm yelling - but with all of these hormones - I tend to use more CAPS than I should).
