  I never had a video monitor with DD, we just used, and actually still use, a Sony Babycall. I think they make video ones that can pan around the room though, that might be a cheaper option, so you can move it from baby to baby.

  When my boys were still in cribs/toddler beds.  We had them next to one another and then used only one camera.  When they moved to twin sized beds at opposite ends of the room, that is when I moved a second camera into the room.  We have the Motorola that came with two cameras, I plan on buying a third to put in their playroom- where the second had been but I wasn't sure if I needed a third- but now I feel I need one.

  We have separate cribs in a small room with one camera. You can move it and zoom in but it's still not as great as I'd like. I can see one baby very good but not the other. We're going to play around with putting it on a shelf angled. I think it depends on your setup and how well/close you want to see them.

  As OP have said. One camera, ours had a rotating function and zoom function so we could always see all 3 LOs.

  Thanks everyone! I just ordered the Motorola MBP43 with 2 cameras so hopefully that will work for our two rooms. I can always get a 3rd camera if we find we need it

  We used to have one camera between the cribs that would pan back and forth, but we finally added a second one so that I can see at a glance what's happening in there without having to wait for a camera to swing around - by the time it was done moving I was usually in there trying to quiet a baby down so they wouldn't wake the other one.

  We have the Motorola with 2 cameras...one on each crib and love it. It even has the option to add 2 more cameras if you so choose
