Hi ladies, it's been forever since I've been around. I hope you don't mind, but I'm getting desperate.
LO is 9.5 months old. He typically does not sleep more than 2.5-3 hours at night. Last weekend, we had some success and were getting 5 hour stretches, but naps were a mess. Naps are back to normal, now, and sleep is back to crap. We put him down drowsy, sometimes he fusses (longest has been 12 mins), and then he can put himself to sleep. When he wakes up, I listen and give him a chance to self soothe, but when he gets to the point he's thrashing and screaming, I go in. This is, of course, during the wake up before I go to bed myself. Otherwise, I'm not very coherent myself, and go on survival mode-do what's necessary so we can all go back to sleep.
He is EBF, and when he nurses at night, he actually seems to eat well. I'm afraid he's legitimately hungry, which makes me feel like a heel that I wish he'd just sleep. He also is not up to party, it's very much eat and back to sleep. I've read about shaving a minute off each feeding to wean them from eating overnight-has anyone tried this? I've tried a dream feed-that hasn't worked, either. Any other words of advice? The 2AM feeding is the one that is killing me.
Thanks.

Re: Sleep help
I never let her stay up longer than three hours at a time. Ever. She just gets too tired. Also, I don't let her sleep longer than two hours at a time during the day. She gets two two-hour naps. I play lullabies at night and naps, there's an app on my tablet, that seemed to help TREMENDOUSLY. Also, there' a fan running for white noise. She still nurses once a night, she really is hungry, so I let her eat. Also I let her tank up before bed....all the food she can possibly fit in her little belly. She's doing great at self-feeding, so I just let her sit there and eat all she wants. That's at 6pm, then she nurses again and goes to bed by 7:30, so I think that full belly helps her sleep.
Hopefully that helps a little, sending sleepy vibes your way!
