Since we are talking about addiction...

This is my sister's story. It ran in the local paper this week. She went from pain pills to heroin in just a few years.

  • That's wonderful that your sister is sharing her story and her struggle with addiction. I hope she continues in her sobriety and is able to find a career where she can help others...she has a powerful testimony and can be a very positive influence in helping other addicts get clean and stay sober.

Thank you for sharing your sister's story. I attended a funeral today for a very young girl who lost her battle to heroin after nearly a life-long struggle with addiction... Which started with what she considered "mild" pills that she used to block out tragic memories. My heart is aching for her family... But I am so, so rejoicing over your sister.

ETA I'm terribly sorry about your parents.
  • Thank you for sharing.  Addiction is a horrible disease for any individual and family to face. I am so happy for anyone who is able to overcome it and stay sober.  At the same time, I have so much sadness for anyone who, like me and my family, have to deal with the loss of an addict.
