STD due to stress

Is there anyone else out there with an incredibly stressful job that might be leaving work early?

I've already called my boss from my previous job to see if I could go back there, I've been very upfront with my boss and current boss. I literally cannot handle this stress during pregnancy for another 5 months.

Anyone else thinking about going out early?

Re: STD due to stress

  • Just something to think about...if you go out early for stress that is going to eat into your leave for after the baby comes.

How early are you thinking of going out?  Do you already have a doctor who will take you out early?

  • What do you do ?

My job is sometimes stressful but I wouldn't use my precious PTO before the baby is here.

It wouldn't eat into my maternity leave. The STD policy here is up to 26 weeks. However I have full paid actual maternity leave for 10 weeks. It says in the policy that maternity leave does not start u til the baby is born. I work in analytics, but there is more than I could currently fit in this small space about the problems I'm having. I'm definitely losing lots of sleep. I recently have been putting in 17 hour days due to poor planning on the part of others and I've found myself crying over this job often in the past couple months. We're also horrifically under staffed.
  • I'm a nurse and they couldn't put me in another department so they put me on CSST and I was stopped at 5 weeks into my pregnancy. Pretty much within the same week I found out.

Thanks @cruelsound that was super helpful.

I think I'd have enough time though, because STD is up to 26 weeks and then maternity leave is not STD. It's a benefit offered through the company where they pay you at 100% for 10 weeks.

I would have to worry about FMLA, but my old boss already said he'd love to have me back part time after the baby is born.
  • Ummm ... I read this as "sexually transmitted disease" due to stress, and I was like, I don't think that's possible? But what the hell do I know. I'm not a doctor.

(I have no relevant input to the actual topic of this post.)
Me too! I seriously just sat here and stared at my computer until my brain connected the dots.

I tried connecting the dots and I had no idea what it meant, until someone spelled it out in a comment.  :-)  Thanks!!!!
