Holy hell I'm glad you posted this. Last night was marginally better but the three nights before were hooooorrrrendous! I never even KNEW there was a 9month sleep regression until he started waking 3hrs after bedtime, screeeetching. Have had to bring him to bed every night at basically 11pm. I am pissed off, what the hell babies! Will they never end :(:p

Yes! Same thing. He screams his head off! Usually after motn wake ups, he goes right back to sleep, but last night and the night before he screamed until I came back, gave him Motrin, and nursed some more. I think his teeth are bugging him, too.

    When will it ever end?!

Ha! Im toooootally jinxing myself but the two nights since b turned nine months he's slept until 5:30. And he's been napping much better for about two weeks. Of course, tonight will probably be different.

  • The nine month mark for us is on the 1st. I'm skeered. She did wake up about two hours after bed time last night, screaming and covered in vomit. No fever. Seems fine this morning. Good times. Going to ask the doctor about it at her check up on Wednesday.

DD turned 9 months last week and nothing terrible has happened yet! Maybe we're going to avoid it? :D:D:D

I thought you had posted that she was standing up and screaming?

Also, we are going from 0-1 wake ups to 2 wake ups, so it's really not horrible...but I'm not used to it, that's for sure.

Oh, god, it was brutal. We had one night with 6 wakeups. And it combined with teething for us. Seems to be passing now, though (shorter than the 4m one, which should've been called the 4-6m sleep regression in our house).

Have you considered nightmares? The third night I was like 'ok I'm not nursing you I know you aren't hungry', esp since that hadnt worked the previous night. So I tried rocking him and he kept squirming and crying hard until I held him upright, and he went silent, awake. It was like a nightmare and then he finally woke up. I couldn't get him back down afterwards unless I brought him to bed to snuggle close.

He has gotten tooth #7 recently but this is different. I gave him some Quietude last night before bed and he seemed better, still woke at 12:30 but much less agitated.

It's possible. We don't have any teeth yet :(
  • Well, we had a horrible "regression" last night, for sure. I'm wondering if we're hitting it a few weeks early... plotting how to wear her out today to get more sleep for all tonight.
  • Amanda seems to be following her original due date for milestones (she was 1.5weeks late), and we've hit this. Last two nights = bed at 7:30, wake at 10:30, stay up for an hour, wake at 12:30, stay up for half an hour, then sleep fitfully the rest of the night.

Not a big fan of this one. I was getting used to alone time at night and sleep....

Now I have to stand next to the crib for 45 minutes in the dark while she falls back asleep. :|

  • I've read that this regression is easier than the 4 month one and that it can happen at 7,8 or 9 months :-L
  • :D <---- nervous smile.

  • Sigh. I guess we must have hit that a month early. He spoiled us by missing the 4 month sleep regression but is making up for it. We usually have 4 wake ups a night but last night we only had two and he managed to go back to sleep on his own the first time!

  • It started early for us... It's awful. :((
  • We were smooth sailing until the 6 month regression... and we've been in that for 10 weeks now.

  • The past 8 months have just been one big sleep-regression blur for me.  We're averaging 3-4 wake-ups a night now which is better than the 6-10 a month ago, but I would give my left tit to be able to STTN.

  • Sooooo. The four month sleep regression had literally been going on for four months... I think I just need to give up on the hope of getting more than two hours of sleep at a time.
