How soon do most people get them done??

Within the 1st 10 days is best. Babies start being more awake after that and it's harder to get the cute shots.

We did them when he was 18 days old I did not plan ahead and was luckily able to schedule a photographer on short notice. Most told me they were booked through the week or that they only did newborns (at the regular rate) within 2 weeks from birth. I liked the one I chose and can't wait to see the pictures!

Within 2 weeks . DD was 11 days old when we had her pics done . We fed her a good bit and my photographer had a space heater and heating pad to keep her warm and asleep !

I've got an appointment scheduled for April 12 since I heard the first 2 weeks was the best time to have them done.
Luckily for me my baby is STILL inside--so I'm about 99% sure that date will be within the first 2 weeks of life.

I loved the ones that were done in the hospital so much that we are just going with those. We are going to do a family portrait session with all of us at around 3 or 4 months as well.

7-10 days is ideal - you want them pretty sleepy and also still curled up and froggy-legged.

We did L's when he was 21 days. We had to wait a week longer than we wanted because our photographer had a cold. He was very alert and didn't make for great pics.

2 weeks is ideal for photographers because they're so sleepy at that stage, but really you can get them done even if they are older than that.

Our photographer suggested within the first 10 days, but was booked up until April 8th, so LO wil be 14 days old for her pictures. We also had photos done at the hospital when she was a day old that turned out fantastically.

We had photos done at 10 days old and again at 1 month. Babies were more alert come the one month, but it was nice to get some wide eye shots!

We did ours at a week old. She was actually awake for half of it and we have a ton of wide eyed shots. Luckily she wasn't crying. Just staring at us.

We had ours done at 5 days. The photographer does them less than 10 days after birth so the babies still have the "sleepy in the womb" feeling.

Our does newborn pictures within 15 days after birth. He was 4 days old when we had them done.

Here is an example of our newborn photos at 4 days old (pink basket) and 12 days old (black and white). DH took them, and she would not fall asleep for the black and white session. They still turned out amazing, but it's a different look.
