POS Humidifier!!!

Don't buy the Babies R Us brand humidifier. Just got mine for my shower like 3 weeks ago and the damn thing is broken. I had a really bad cold/congestion this week and since us pregnant ladies can't take meds I had to bust into my baby's stash and use her humidifier. I used it Wednesday night and everything seemed fine. Used it again last night and noticed it would stop pumping the moisture out from time to time. Well just now I went to use it and the thing turns on but nothing is coming out!! Everything is put together properly and I can't find anything wrong with it. So I've concluded that the thing is a piece of shit and is getting returned tomorrow.

Anyone have a humidifier that is NOT a piece of shit? If so, recommend away.

Re: POS Humidifier!!!

  • I love my Vicks Warm Steam Humidifier. I paid $28 for it at Walmart and it's awesome and easy to maintain. I've yet to find a cool mist vaporizer that works well.

My OB also approves quite a few meds, though. I've had 5 upper-respiratory infections since November, and my doctor has allowed me to take dextromethorphan, guaifenesin, pseudoephedrine, acetaminophen, decongestant nasal spray, steroid nasal spray, pretty much any antihistamine, and for a particularly bad case of bronchitis she even prescribed a round of azithromycin and some codeine cough syrup.

I love our Crane humidifier. It's so quiet. The one we got for our shower for dd sounded like a jet plane.

We have theee of the crane drop shape ones and love them. We did get one dud that wouldn't regulate water output properly, but they sent us a new one for free.

  • I have heard of Crane before. Maybe I'll try it out. The Vicks warm steam thing won't work for the nursery unfortunately because I'm pretty sure only cold mist is approved for babies.
  • Personally I think cool mist is useless.

  • We have 3 of the homedics ones. We've had them for 6+ years and they are all still going strong with daily use for about 6 mo out of the year (we turn them on when we turn the heat on).
