Which day would you do Easter?

DS and DH will be at my inlaws for Easter Saturday and Sunday which I am working. Would you celebrate Easter (have the bunny come, egg hunt, etc) on the Friday or the Monday? Dh and I will both be home both days with ds. I can't decide which day to do it. Before he does everything with the inlaws so that he does it with us first, or if that doesn't really matter and wait until the Monday to do everything. We will probably have dinner with my family on the Monday night as well.

  • I wouldn't do it on Good Friday, but maybe that's just me.

  • are you doing this because the kids will be at the inlaws and you wont be? Easter baskets were always on the table at our spots when we got up on sunday morning

  • I feel like saying Monday just to be argumentative, but I'm another vote for Friday ;)

Yep exactly. Dh and Ds are going to the inlaws Saturday morning and coming home Sunday night.

  • hm, then I would say Friday for his age, he won't understand the good Friday symbolism anyways.

(And this is also if you are religious.)

  • Can you do it Saturday morning before they leave? I don't know how old your son is, but in my experience, the egg hunt/basket opening doesn't take that long.

  • I would do it on Sunday. I am not super religious but doing it on Good Friday seems off to me. Also, I'd rather still have something fun to look forward to after the actual holiday.

Because of the religious aspect and to preserve the solemnity of the day. Plus, we do other things on Good Friday...church, stations, etc. If none of that's a factor for you, then there probably isn't much difference between Friday and Monday.

That didn't even occur to me.  We aren't very religious... but that is a good point. I wonder if we told the in laws we had done it on Friday if they would be horrified. Maybe we will wait and do it on the Monday.
