1st Trimester

When did you transition into maternity clothes?

I just found out a few days ago that I'm pregnant with my second child :) only 3 weeks along...but def pregnant!

Is it too early for me to be uncomfortable? The last 3 days I’ve had a constant cramp. It’s the same thing I remember having w/ #1…but LATER in pregnancy…like at 3 months. It was around the time I transitioned into maternity clothes.

And today…I’m wearing jeggings that are ALWAYS super comfortable. But no matter where I put the waist of them…they bother me. I put them really low on my waist…and they’re uncomfortable in that cramping area. Right now…I have them pulled up right under my ribs, & they’re STILL bothering me. They’re not too tight….but the band is just REALLY bothering me where I’m cramping.

I wore these SAME pants yesterday…and didn’t have this problem. I’m really tempted to go ahead and order myself some maternity leggings.

I honestly feel like I’m much further along. I REMEMBER my body feeling like this before…but like I said…I was around 3 months…not 3 WEEKS! Just seems really weird…especially if I DO start wearing maternity pants at 3 weeks!

  • I am one of those ladies that couldn't zip their pants at 6 weeks.

Obv, it was just bloat, but I was majorly uncomfortable until I broke down and bought a pair of mat pants at maybe 10 weeks.  I wish I had done it sooner.

Due to bloat I broke down around 11 weeks to buy pants.

I avoided maternity clothes until like 22 weeks with DS, maybe a little later.  I got by with looser fitting dresses.   I'm going to avoid them as long as possible this time, too.  I got so sick of wearing the same 7 dresses after a while, that I'm in no hurry to pull them back out.  Also, all of my maternity clothes right now are summer dresses, and I'll need the weather to warm up.

  • It's my third and that sounds exactly like me.,I pulled out my low panel jeans almost right away.
  • I bought a belly band and have had to wear one with all work clothes and some jeans since 8 weeks.  All bloat, things are fitting better now.

Oh, this thread makes me feel better.  I throw a mini tantrum every morning getting dressed over something else that doesn't fit properly anymore.  My DH has practically begged me to go buy maternity pants tonight.  My issue with it is at 9 weeks I know it's only bloat and I have felt silly buying maternity clothing to accommodate.  I already have belly bands but they are just uncomfortable and I feel as though my pants are constantly falling down.  Oh well, maternity store here I come!

  • Last time I held out as long as I could, used the belly band, and didn't really wear maternity clothes until about 16-20 weeks. Because the bloat is so bad this time I've already been wearing maternity clothes at home & on weekends (I'm 8 weeks, have been since 6 weeks). For work I'm still in regular clothes and using safety pins to "let out" my pants. I do plan to head out this weekend and get some maternity pants for work, though. The way I see it, we're growing humans, we deserve to be comfy ;)

  • This is my second and I busted out the maternity pants at home at about 8 weeks.  I'm still getting by with a bellyband and/or my fat pants outside of the house.  But now that everyone know, I may start rocking the maternity pants in public.  The downside is I was due in early March with #1, this one is due in early October, so I won't be able to wear half my maternity clothes.

  • During my first few weeks of pregnancy I had a lot of cramping and gas, so anything tight against my stomach was incredibly uncomfortable. I was able to wear my normal pants using the hair band trick. However, now at 10+4, My pants don't even zip anymore (and I haven't gained a pound). I bought a white & black belly band and I love them. I should be able to wear my normal pants for a quite a while longer. I have maternity pants I can switch into whenever I am ready, as well, though.

  • I'm 12 weeks and still in my normal jeans. However, I've moved to maternity bras at 10 +4 as my normal bras were getting too uncomfortable! I do see some of my tops making my belly quite pronounced so have stopped wearing them. Am tempted to get a maternity tops but I have no idea how big I'm going to get! So might just find some floaty normal ones..

  • Due to bloating - I'm seriously considering it at only 6 weeks.  I'm just so uncomfortable & am running out of pants that fit.

    Exactly.

I'm 8 weeks today and casual Friday is casually uncomfortable. My jean buttons are unbuttoned and tucked in and it's still uncomfortable lol. I may just run and get some new maternity jeans tonight for just such an occasion.

  • I believe I started wearing maternity jeans around 14 weeks pregnant.  Guilty pleasure.
  • I think I started around 8 weeks...they're so comfy!

  • About 20 weeks with my first, and throughout my entire pregnancy I probably only wore them 50% of the time and my regular clothes the other 50%. I'm 12 weeks with my second and don't see using them in the near future. I definitely don't find them more comfortable, and I think they're ugly.

  • With my first, I definitely wished I had maternity pants at 7 weeks. I was bloated and nothing was comfy.
  • I'm 12 weeks right now, and today was my first day of maternity pants. Seeing as how I'm having twins, I cannot believe I waited this long to wear them! They are so comfy!!
  • This is my first pregnancy. I started wearing my regular pants unbuttoned with a rubber band to hold them closed and a tunic-length shirt at around 5 or 6 weeks. Classy. I think it was mostly bloating at that point.

I'm now 11.5 weeks. I tried to hide it because I wasn't going to tell anyone except close family until the 2nd trimester. But coworkers started congratulating me, out of the blue, this week. Awkward! Guess I'm no good at hiding it.

Anyway, I caved and bought maternity pants. They are wicked comfortable!

  • I wore maternity shorts for the first time this weekend at 9 weeks.  So comfortable:)  I'm hoping I can hold out for a couple more months on getting a maternity uniform for work though.  I'm in the Military & I swear a guy designed our maternity uniform.  It looks like a tent.  I did hear the pants are really comfortable though.

  • I'm only 9 wks and I am already in that boat of taking FOREVER to get dressed in the morning because ALL of my pants sound so uncomfortable. I have been rocking my more forgiveable waist lines and leggings alot. Already on the hunt for maternity stuff though, I have been wearing the shirts alot as between bloat and the fact that I showed early with my last I figure why not!

  • I'm plus sized and almost 8 weeks with twins... I caved and ordered some low band jeans and have been wearing them for about a week now... No shame.  The double bloat is majorly uncomfy... Yikes.
  • I'm 13 weeks and all my jeans still fit (they are quite low cut), but lots of my t-shirts make it obvious Im pregnant.  Not quite ready to tell the office yet, so I just bought some flowy shirts.  Still my normal size (small), but luckily flowy is 'in' at the moment.  I have been in maternity bras dor about 3 weeks now though, as I'd outgrown my normal ones, and you arent supposed to wear underwire, so it just made sense.

  • A lady at my work wear maternity pants and her last kid was a decade ago. She just likes the comforts when sitting all day. No binding.
  • I am 8 weeks pregnant and about a week ago I noticed that I couldn't button my pants.  I bought elastic waist expanders that can be worn with most pants that have a button and I've been using them since the end of last week. I don't know whether this is a sign that I am going to be very big?
  • With my first, I was about 7.5 months by the time I caved. This time around I'm sure I'll do it much sooner, because I have no shame. Maternity clothes can be super cute, and they're just so much more comfortable. I won't rush into them if I don't need them, but if I start to become uncomfortable, I'll make the switch.

  • I'll be 7w on Saturday, but with the bloat and because I have cysts on my ovaries from the IF meds (that are painful if there's too much pressure on my abdomen) I've been wearing maternity stuff already this time around.
