Potty training help please!

we bought underwear and DD is so excited, there is no going back now. She was really tired and had an accident but when we said pull up she had a full on meltdown. I'm kind of scared to leave the house with her in underwear though! She gets it and has been using the potty for months, is frequently dry from one potty break to the next, but will also still soak a diaper from time to time. Any tips, experiences, how-long-did-it-take info would be much appreciated.

  • "Accidents happen" was our motto. She had a few along the way, but it was never as big of a deal as I made it out to be in my mind. Like Mbenit said, "pee before you leave" when possible, and bring a change of clothes, wipes etc... It will be fine!

  • Be consistent and get rid of the diapers. Your DD will do just fine.

I have a travel potty seat and a piddle pad in the car seat. I also keep a spare set of clothes in my bag. So far no accidents in public, knock on wood.

  • How old is your DD? My DD wasn't PT until 1 month before her 3rd birthday. I tried and she was semi successful at 2 1/2 but at just about 3 she was finally ready. I did pull ups for a bit but she mastered the potty almost immediately and now that she's 4 she's fine (just scared shitless of automatic flushing pottys). Wherever I go I have wipes and a change of undies for her but luckily haven't had to use them yet... Good luck!
