Numb on top of belly

I have this numbing feeling under my boobs, on top of my belly. It's so annoying, not painful but just irritating. I can't seem to get relief from it. Has anyone experienced this?

Re: Numb on top of belly

  • Yep! Although sometimes it does kinda hurt, almost a sore feeling. At first I thought it was my bra being too tight, or the way I was sitting at work. But, I have no idea what it is. I think I've seen other ladies complain about it too, but not sure if they know what causes it.

  • I'm sorry in that I can't help but I've had numbness from under my bra line to like the bottom of my rib cage for a few weeks now. I figure it's just stretching or something. I asked my doctor about the pain I ocassionally feel through there but not the numbness. She said the pain is probably just baby pushing into my ribs. The numbness is getting really creepy though. I'm glad you asked this question.
  • I have the same thing occasionally. It usually helps if I stretch or find a different position. I have a very active little boy in there, so I thinks it's caused by a body part pushing upward.
  • Yes! On the right hand side. It feels like someone slapped me there, that same burning, numb sensation. When I look at it, though, it looks perfectly normal. I thought it was the baby's feet pushing outward and stretching the skin there too much. So uncomfortable!

  • Been having the same issue for about a month just on the right side. Nothing makes it go away for me other then laying down for a bit. I googled it a couple weeks ago and it sounds like it's the baby pushing on a nerve. I pan to ask my dr at my appointment tomorrow. Some days it happens so often it makes the skin sore to touch.
  • Mine is a sore, burning pain. I had it with DD too. It's the reason I stopped working at 37 weeks with her. I'm almost 32 weeks now with twins and have been measuring 7-9 weeks ahead. I can't wear any type of bra for more than a few hours. I believe it's a combo of the pressure of my belly pushing up and the skin being stretched so thin.
  • Yes it's way annoying! I haven't found anything that really helps... :( I have noticed that sometimes it's a little pink there, so I'm guessing the skin is getting rubbed raw or something.
  • Normal and super annoying. I'd totally forgotten about it until I saw your post, but I remember this from the final few weeks of my first pregnancy. The skin stretches so far so quickly that the nerves can't keep up and basically just freak out. You can have tingling, numbness, pain, or any combination thereof.

  • Ahhh thanks guys! Glad I'm not going crazy... Hopefully we all get relief soon.

  • I have this too! I think it's just the skin stretching to the limit.

  • It's normal. I mentioned it to my Dr on Tuesday. She said it's just the nerves being stretched. It definitely makes my list of least favorite symptoms.

  • i have had that same feeling for months. It goes all the way across the top of my belly under my boobs and down from there about 2 inches. No marks, but it's numb, sometimes sore, sometimes burning...always annoying. My OB said it's normal so I try to ignore it.

  • I've got it too, the dr said it was normal, probably baby hitting a nerve, will probably have it until baby is born. Super annoying and I find it gets painful at night when I'm lying on my side.

  • I have had this feeling specifically on the left side for months now. It comes and goes, sometimes sore, sometimes numb and tingly. I asked my OB a while ago and she was not concerned, but it is nice to know I am not the only as noone I have talked to has experienced it.
