I know my posts have all be about travel lately, but bear with me. It's just now getting warm and it is ALL I can think about. I need to get to the ocean...
Anyway, we have a beach trip planned for June 20th. It is the absolute earliest we could go without taking DS out of school and for DH to get the time off. I am technically due Aug 3rd (RCS likely for July 30th) So, I will be 35 weeks. We would be driving (8 hours, lots of stops) and once we get there, just sitting around in the condo, on the beach, or in the pool. Some precautions I am planning... We will take our carseat and hospital/baby bag and I will find a good hospital nearby just in case. Also, I don't have to have an RCS, I am just electing to. If he decides to come on his own before then and has no complications, I will have him vaginally.
Would you do it?
Re: How Late Would You Travel?
But, I'm thinking the heat and travel may be a little much at that point if I was a normal pregnant woman.
Just make sure you stop often to walk around, the last think you need is a blood clot. Maybe consider some compression stockings as well.

My OB told me at the beginning to not plan on traveling more than an hour outside of our metro area during my third trimester. That being said, I think we are planning a trip to Kansas City to see my parents and my hometown when I am technically 29 weeks as long as I'm not having any complications then. (we can cancel on my parents last minute if we have to and it's only a 4 1/2 hour drive).
If you and your OB felt comfortable with it, then I would go. I know I personally wouldn't be comfortable doing that, but I think it's a personal thing. It really only matters what you & your OB thing
One thing you may want to keep in mind that a hospital away from home may not allow you to do a VBAC (even if it is allowed by their hospital and the OB on call performs them, they may not allow you to without being a previous patient/knowing your medical history), so if you did go into labor for some reason you may have no other option than a RCS 8 hours away from home. Which, you may be fine with, so that might be a non-issue as well
I ended up moving the trip up to next weekend which will be 26 weeks just for my own comfort level. I wouldn't do 8 hours in a car at 35 weeks though. Think of the torture on your bladder... *shudders*.
