Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Intro(sig warning)

I post frequently on the LGBT parenting blog but have some questions about p17 I hope this is the right place first I'll introduce myself

I got my BFP on 11/11/13 with an EDD of July 18th 2014. Everything was going well and on Feb. 12th 2014 I got my 18w anatomy scan and found out I was having a baby girl.  Then on Monday Feb. 17th I started leaking liquid.  I went to the ER and through an ultrasound (baby was alive with a heartbeat of 160bpm) it was confirmed that I was low on amniotic fluid. I was sent to L&D and through 3 other means of testing it was confirmed that my water had broken.  I was induced because I was told risk of infection was to great and delivered on Feb. 20th at 19w.  I got to hold my daughter in my arms and say goodbye.  This was the hardest week of my life but I am grateful that I got to tell my daughter how loved she was.  I met with an MFM yesterday and she told me that next pregnancy I will start p17 shots at 15w.  I would appreciate any information anyone has on p17 shots.

I am so sorry for everyone's loss and hope that I am welcome to join your community.

Re: Intro(sig warning)

  • Thank you. As I'm sure everyone else can relate I am taking it one day at a time.  Nights are the worse because between the dreams and the time to really think I haven't been sleeping well at all.  No one ever expects to go through such a hard time and once you hit that coveted 2nd tri you feel like you can breathe easy.  I am tearing up writing this now.... I get everyone's frustration with FB and I'm not looking forward to going back to work there are 3 other pregnant women there right now.

  • Hugs! I've got no advice either but I'm sorry for your loss. The ladies here are very understanding.
  • P17 is progesterone. It will be given starting at 15w until 34w weekly.  It is prescribed after preterm labor or PPROM which is what happened to me.  It is hard finding info out there on the side effects on both baby and mother.

  • I don't know about the side effects on it. My stepsister has an incompetent cervix and had to get the shots to stop preterm labor. They worked for her. Hoping they do for you too.

  • Ticker warning.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish you didn't have to go through that, but glad you got to say goodbye. I suggest posting on the loss board, as there are more moms who unfortunately have had later losses. A lot of us on this board have experienced miscarriages or early losses. Hugs to you!

  • Thank you everyone for your kind words.  I will try the high risk pregnancy board.  Unfortunately my MFM's idea of giving me info on p17 was to print off info from the internet from the March of Dimes website all of which I can access myself.
