Re: High Risk Check in March 27th

  • How is your week going this week?  My week is going pretty well. I have been really achy this week, I think this LO is growing alot! I have been trying to up my water intake as I have been up walking around alot with DS and don't want to irritate anything more than already.

Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates? I have my first MFM appointment on April 10th, I will be 16 weeks. I am really hoping that they will want to monitor by ultrasound for cervical length and then talk to them about progesterone shots/suppositories. I am trying to think if there is anything else I need to ask about or push for?

GTKY: Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet?I am struggling with the way I want to dress this pregnancy. With DS I rocked the long sweaters and leggings since he was  winter baby. This time, I am thinking maxi dresses/skirts, although that could get hot this summer!

Hope everyone has had good appointments this week!

  • I think I was in denial about being HR but as I was checking out at my OB yesterday, I couldn't help but notice the big red circles around High Risk Pregnancy.

With my twins, I delivered at 29 weeks. Went from water breaking to pushing in 8 hours.

This time around, doc wants me on the Makena progesterone shots but insurance is being hell. Doc said he would personally speak to their medical director so hopefully something good comes out of it.

I'm feeling pretty good - just seem to hit this level of exhaustion everyday around 2 that I just can't shake.

And we scheduled the BIG ultrasound! I'm so ready to know what we are having! April 16!

Unfortunately, I think any preterm birth makes you rather high risk. I am glad they are being proactive though! I hope your insurance straightens out about the shots, I haven't gotten that far, so I hope mine cooperates with whatever we decide to do!

  • How is your week going this week?  Physically my week has been going pretty well but emotionally I have been a wreck preparing for our anatomy scan this morning!

Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates? in the past 7 days I have had three appointments.  1. hematologist - everything was fine! 2. ob - everything was fine and 3. anatomy scan - everything was fine and we found out we're having a boy!

GTKY: Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet? I was very blessed with a big sister who had a shopping problem while she was pregnant.  My pregnancy style is whatever she has passed down.  My last pregnancy I bought a total of two new things to wear.  This time I may buy a few extra pieces to get me through the southern summer but that should be it! I aim for comfort haha

  • How is your week going this week?
So far so good. Very hungry and dealing with headaches. Trying to not ingest a whole lot of Tylenol, so trying other options while suffering.
    Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates?
April 8th is the next appt. And I have to schedule my a/s, but still not for another 5 weeks.
GTKY: Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet?
Most of my stuff is from previous pregnancies, and I was always preggers in the summer/fall, so I stick with maxi dresses, tank tops, and gauchos. Bring on the gauchos!!! Pretty much whatever will let me hang out and be comfy. I have also given up on buying new maternity, the Thrift Store is my friend.

  • How is your week going this week?  Physically, been doing OK.  Although my m/s came back twice this week!  I had a 9 day reprieve and then puked yesterday morning and the morning before.

Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates?  I am anxiously awaiting my next check-up, which is Wednesday 4/2.  Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I've seen/heard the baby so I am having withdrawal!  There has been a couple of days this week where *I think* I may have felt flutters, but not completely sure.  So ready to feel definite movement!

GTKY: Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet?  My style is generally somewhere in-between Eddie Bauer and Anne Taylor...I have a feeling cargo capris/shorts and simple t-shirts with infinity scarves will be my go-to style this pregnancy!

  • Quick update on shots... Nurse called and they have one I can get today. Makena is sending a complimentary one for next week. And if I beers rang correctly, Makena is investigating why my insurance is being a dick.
  • Beers rang? Hahaha! That's supposed to say understand.

How is your week going this week?

On the non-pregnant side of things - awesome! My baby turns 4 on Saturday and has waken me up every day this week asking if it was his birthday yet. I'm pretty sure my other child sees ghosts as he is talking and waving to the wall in his room each night after we put him to bed. I tried grilling him, but he's only one so his verbal skills suck. ;)

On the pregnancy front - Eh. Tons of pain this week and because I measure so far ahead I’ve been having a lot of 3rd trimester comfort issues. I had a mini breakdown thinking if it’s this hard already there is no way I can keep this little one in here until an acceptable time. My husband is positive by worrying I’m jinxing myself to make it the whole 40 weeks. That’s a problem I’ll take!

    Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates?

Just had a few appointments, so I don’t see my OB or MFM for a couple of weeks. I did feel the baby move! It was the first and only time and had me in perma grin for the rest of the day. The earliest I felt my other two was 19 weeks, so it was a total surprise. Also, my insurance approved my P 17 shots. It was a pain and I still have to fork over a few hundred a month, but I'll start those in the next week or so.

GTKY: Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet?

Blah. I’m such a downer today, but I just don’t care this time around. I have to look professional at work, but I can’t wait to get home and throw on comfy clothes. I’m looking forward to warmer weather so I can get away with maxi skirts/dresses. Sorry world, but I will not be contributing to the cuteness factor anytime in the next five months.

Oh man, I take back anything positive I said earlier. I just got a call that my insurance is changing their mind about my makena shots and want me to pay over 2,000 a month up front. Kind of feel like I'm going to throw up over the total.

  • Hi ladies.  Sorry @MelNV that your insurance is being butts.  I hope it gets worked out.

How is your week going this week?  I'm feeling really good!  DS had a double ear infection at the end of last week but seems to be doing a lot better now.  I am starting to feel the baby a lot more consistently (almost every day) so that makes me happy.  My OB moved up my due date to 9/1 since I'm measuring ahead and wasn't sure about the my dates.

Upcoming appointments, milestones or updates?  I met with MFM on Monday.  Cervix and baby are looking good.  MFM said that since my son was born full term he doesn't see a need for cervical checks every 2 weeks unless my cervix changes considerably by the time I go back for my Level II in a month.  While I'm sad I wont get to see my nugget as much this pregnancy I'll be happy to save some money since I have such a high deductible.

GTKY:  Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet? My son was a summer baby so planning on wearing my dresses and skirts from first pregnancy.  May add in some capri leggings and long tops which I didn't wear much my first pregnacy

That is good that both the baby and your cervix are looking good! I am wondering if everything looks good at my MFM appointment in 2 weeks if they will say somethign similar in terms of checking my cervix.  I was actually looking forward to ultrasounds every two weeks, but I guess I would be happy to know my cervix was still holding strong. Guess we will see in a few weeks!

  • How is your week going this week?   so far, so good, since it's THURSDAY!

Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates?  We will be finding out the sex on Saturday and having the surprise pics done afterwards. :)

GTKY: Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet?  Maxi dresses.  ALL the way.  So easy and comfortable.  Many people say they don't like to wear maxi dresses/skirts b/c their legs rub together.  Maternity Spanx(yep they exist and are awesome!) will fix that right up!

  • Hi all! I haven't seen this thread before, so I've not yet posted in the check in.. My TB attendance can be somewhat spotty! I'll do a brief intro :-). I'm high risk for having a bicornuate ute (almost completely separated by a septum).. The ute thing makes me a risk for IUGR, late term m/c or early PTL from incompetent cervix, etc.. Also, having had GD both previous and pre-eclampsia resulting in delivery at 37w makes me special as well... Blergh! How's my week? Good. Most times I forget I'm pregnant, minus the constant exhaustion!! My littles keep me very busy! Appointments, etc: none recently. At my last MFM appointment, we discovered baby is on the left side this time. Both my boys were on my right (and I had minimal ute related issues!!) but my mc was on my left. Now, that could just be coincidence, but I've been prepped now by 3 different doctors to be prepared for some additional stress and appointments this time.. I would have been much more confident if baby was on the right, as I know I've successfully carried there, but hopefully we will have equal success on this side! My next appointment is for my A/S and then I'll probably start with cervical checks and additional ultrasounds every 3ish weeks after. GTKY: whatever fits and whatever maternity clothesi have left over from my last 2 :-) I love leggings and loose fitting capris lol. Thanks @suitern for leading the check in!!

  • How is your week going this week?

Well.... Been sick with flu /stomach virus so not great.... However took today off and I feel a little more rested. DH and DS are finally better so that is good . I will be happy after next week when half of our NY state testing is done!

    Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates?

Had my genetic counseling appt on Monday and found out baby was healthy and that it was a boy!

Had other half of NT today-- genetic scan--- all was great! Loved seeing my boy move all over and love seeing how similar he and DS were in terms of legs up and crossed and hands in front of face with one hand in mouth!

Have my regular OB appt on Monday.

Scheduled 20 week level 2 for end of April.

GTKY: Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet? I am trying to get by till spring weather finally hits. This LO and DS are off by 2 months so most of my maternity stuff is capris, short sleeve shirts, and skirts. Then I have Capri yoga pants for summer and weekends when I have no school.

Just ordered a few things from Old Navy to get me through the last of the chilly weather here in NY.

  • @TexasTwinMom and @MeNV, sorry the Makena shots are being a PITA.  I'm supposed to start them soon, too, and my doc's office has been having some trouble getting everything sorted.  My insurance said it's way cheaper if I use the insurance company's mail pharmacy ($30/vial instead of $4,000/vial, gulp), and possibly even cheaper going directly through Makena.  My doc's office filed paperwork with Makena so we'll see how that goes.  I'm already 15w so hopefully it doesn't take long to get it all sorted.  And they want me to do some kind of home care thing to get the injections - I hope that isn't pricey.

How is your week going this week?  Going ok.  My SPD has been flaring up, but today it was ok.  Been super paranoid about cramps and growing pains - I don't know why I'm so paranoid this pregnancy.  I'm so freaked about my water breaking early again.  Ugh gotta calm down.

Upcoming appointments, milestones, or updates?  I have a cervical check next week.  I wanted to bring my mom with me since she got to town today and she'd enjoy seeing an ultrasound, but I think it'll be with the dildo cam with a male doc and that might horrify her LOL.

GTKY: Have you found your pregnancy clothes style yet?  Dresses, dresses, dresses, same as last time.  My neighbor and I have swapped maternity clothes back and forth since we've had kids at different times, so now that she's done I have the entire collection.  Lots of dresses, not many pants.  I can't wait for it to warm up here so I can wear them without tights.

  • @LTMama - At my first cervical check my MFM also took a really good look at the baby.  It may be worth taking your mom and if they just plan on doing a "dildo cam" (LOL) then you can send her back out to the waiting room.

I probably can't help there.  The reason I like maxi dresses is because I'm tall.  But I've seen them EVERYWHERE.  Since I plan on wearing a lot of them, I've been hoarding them from Ross, Marshall's and TJ Maxx.
Oh, I never thought to check Marshall's or TJ Maxx! I will do that this week!!

  • LOL @emmylu30, thanks!  I just found out she'll be gone all week at my brother's, so she'll miss it anyway.  She should still be here for my anatomy scan, though, so I'm going to see if she can make it.  That'll be a nice opportunity for her to see the kiddo.
