So there was
*this article* that came out a while back discussing how signs of autism can be detected in infants a couple months old.
*This new article* shows that there are changes in brain development that probably occur during pregnancy that seem to be associated with autism.
I find this encouraging on a number of levels. I'm not saying that those wackos who still listen to Jenny McCarthy will finally see the light (maybe it's *maternal* vaccination that causes the child's autism!!! /sarcasm) - but it's exciting to read about how changes in the brains of autistic children, if caught young enough, may be reversible!
Hopefully in the next couple of years they'll start routinely screening infants to help reverse these changes in brain development and help autistic children develop normally!
