So, my routine glucose test was abnormal (166) and I have to go in this week for the 3-hour test.
Any of you ladies dealt with GD? I can't remember.. It's been a while. I'm kinda scared I guess. I knew a lady who developed GD during pregnancy and it never went away.

I feel too young for this. Any comments or experiences you'd like to share?
Thanks ladies..
--------UPDATE--------
Ok, all the freaking out was for nothing, everything was normal today at my 3-hour test --- THANK GOODNESS. I binged like a bad, bad girl right afterwards in almost a panic because I felt so weak and sick. Why can't there be an easier way to test for gd GD?!?
Thanks for all your kind and encouraging words.

Re: Gestational diabetes - UPDATE :)
I was diet controlled and my biggest challenge was controlling my fasting sugars. Apparently I did a good job, though, since Finn was my smallest kid by almost a pound.
I didn't do my follow-up testing because I kept forgetting. Bad me. But honestly, the diet wasn't too terrible. The hardest part was knowing that having GD increased my risk for developing type 2 diabetes later in life.
If you end up with the diagnosis please feel free to ask me if you think of questions. Here's hoping you pass the 3hr!
I controlled mine with good eating and light excerisce. I did have to do non stress tests once I hit 30 weeks to monitor her movement and size.
I took a protein bar with me to eat immediately after but I still almost passed out on the way home. I drank two huge glasses of whole milk + chocolate syrup before I started feeling better. And then I slept for like 4 hours....oh, those glorious pre-baby naps
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
Now to get myself to still eat better even though it's not medically "necessary" at the moment (aside from heart disease, high blood pressure, etc etc
