Spanking child

Spanking was a go to behavior adjustment tool for my parents. What are everyone's opinion on it? I feel that it is needed in situations like don't go into the street and the child goes into the street then u spank them because it is the fastest way to ensure they won't do it agein and it's a life and death situation. However, I'd like to look at it with an objective mind since I am going to be a first time parent. Also, what age is to early (my brother spanked his children at 10 months). What do y'all feel are the pros and cons?

    As for 2 posts idk my phone is screwy sometimes. When I say my brother spanked his children I'm not saying he actually hit them hard just a tap on the hand when they were reaching for something that could hurt them. And I got spanked as a child and feel it did me a lot of good. I dreaded the five minute talk my dad gave to me about why he was fixing to spank me and what I need to do next time. But I'd really like to hear what people feel are the pros and cons of it.

    Pro: Gwen & Chris aren't going to be all smug and condescending about relationships anymore

    I don't agree with hitting in any form. I also don't think the "life or death" scenario thing holds water. Spankers often say "it doesn't really hurt the child! It's just light smacks over clothes!" but then say they only reserve it for really serious offenses. Ok...if you really believe you aren't hurting your child, why is it a last resort? You have to know it does in fact hurt, both physically and emotionally.
