The Right Way To Feed Babies

Someone on my FB posted an article with that title, and it wasn't even a joke. You may be shocked to hear the author considers rice cereal horrendous poison as a first food. Her pick for food #1 is "a soft boiled egg yolk from a pastured hen". Let me just run out to my pasture real quick.....

  • Ew! I mean rice/oatmeal/whatever cereal is gross too but you could give your kid like some sweet potato as a first food or something.

  • That would have been a perfect first food for Tumaini, with her egg allergies. I wouldn't have been terrified to feed her anything else afterwards...

  • I get that cereal isn't necessary, but it isn't a big deal either. Babies are just learning how to swallow. Why give them something they are likely to dislike?

eh, not biggie to me tp a point. we didnt do cereals and wont with this baby. unless theres a reason, we had to give her a couple of spoonfuls of oatmeal a day for like a month when she was like 8mths to see if that would help her vomitting. (it didnt). I'll start out with the yellow veggies with this baby like i did with L.

  • But when did you start the eggs from pastured hens???  To think, I've been giving my child plain old eggs this entire time  :((
