Easing Ear Infection Symptoms?

So it turns out DS has his first ear infection :(. He's been super and hasn't been crazy fussy and still gives us periodic smiles - but he isn't feeling good or eating well.

Any home remedies (in addition to the meds he was prescribed) that you ladies could recommend that might help to make him feel better/eat some while the medicine works its magic?

    I've heard a rice sock or similar over the owie ear. Try googling it or I'll try once I get .5 seconds without 3 kids on me. Hope LO feels better.

    Thanks all! His been getting Tylenol and saline and I'll look up the rice sock and Motrin if needed. @citrusfamily - can you tell me more about the drops you're talking about? We were prescribed aumoxecilian (sp?) in liquid form. Should I be asking pedi about ear drops too?
