hand-foot-mouth disease

So we toured a daycare last week because I was toying with the idea of returning to work. When we got there they told us there was a HFMD outbreak, all but 3 babies were kept home. NBD, we held LO the whole time and didn't touch anything so we should be good, right? Wrong. We have all been feeling crummy this week and after LO had a temp of 102.7 this morning I took him to the pedi who confirmed we all had HFMD. Livid doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. My poor baby is pretty much inconsolable, won't nurse, won't let me set him down at all, and requires me to gently rock him and hum lightly in his ear to get any rest.

Any one else dealt with this or have any insight?

HFM is horrible!! Ugh! I saw it all the time when I was a DC teacher. I hope you guys feel better asap!

I actually got it as an adult in the last couple years (think I got it from my niece). It was miserable, but relatively short lived...hopefully you guys feel better soon.

Do you guys have the blisters too?

Yes, the whole household has it.

Oh no!!

I totally empathize...hang in there...soak your hands/feet in cool water, avoid doing dishes by hand and walk cautiously. Thinking about you guys...

Great point about washing things by hand... I am cleaning allthethings now. I'm to steam everything tomorrow.

Did you call the daycare? Sounds like they need to do some more cleaning.

It's a complete bummer. My LO has had it for a while... Bumps showed up on Sunday. I got it last night and had 101 fever. All 10 babies in his class got it. So sad. No matter how clean they keep things it's near impossible to prevent it with drooly, snotty babies that put everything in their mouths.

Ugh I'm sorry! The first two days were the worst, I wanted to die. I am obsessing about getting everything clean, I can't even imagine trying to stay on top of it at a dc. The pedi said it's going around pretty bad in central Texas.

Hope you guys get better soon, too.
