Emma Kate was born on 12/18 at 7:13 am. She weighed 7 lbs 10 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She's doing beautifully other than a little fussiness at night. DH is a super hands-on daddy, and her brothers are so in love with her.
I have to admit to having some trouble. My bp was still high in the hospital, but they sent me home on Sunday afternoon. By Monday morning my bp was 200/113, and I went to the emergency room. They sent me back up to L&D when I was put on magnesium sulfate for 24 hours and then watched. I was finally back home on Wednesday night, but it was a hard two days without her. There were lots of tears while I was away from her. Thank goodness my mom was there to take care of the boys.
She was having latching troubles to begin with, and my supply wasn't coming in, so now I think bf is out. I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it anyway since I had had a breast reduction. I'm still pumping, but I'm only getting 1 bottle a day. I'm very sad about it. My bp is still pretty high, and I'm on several different safe meds for bf, but I may need something stronger in order to get this under control. I guess I need to do whatever is best for a healthy mommy and baby, but I feel like a failure to her, even though I know it's silly. What matters is that she is well loved.

Congratulations on your beautiful girl! So sorry it's been a rough road. All your little one needs is a healthy Mommy right now. Don't worry about the BFing, she will do great on formula.
I had so much trouble with my millk supply with DD. It was a hard decision to quit. I felt bad for a while, but as time passed the only important thing was that DD was healthy and I was healthy.
Take care of yourself and it sounds like you have great support. Congrats again!
Emma Kate is a lovely name and she is a beautiful baby girl!
Sorry you had a rough time but I'm glad you're home with your family and wish you all the best!

WOW she's lovely... and I'm also sorry you had such a rough time of it, and agree that BFing, while great, isn't the end all be all. I did the best I could with my 1st DD, and since she was early - my milk wasn't coming in either.. she was supplemented on formula from the start and it wasn't long before we gave up.
No worries.. formula is just *fine*
CONGRATS!
