Just had layoffs happen this morning....

I was not affected, but several people in my department were let go. As a manager, I had to escort people back to their desk, help them pack, and escort them out to their car and take their badge. This was a decision made by higher ups and we were not even told until this morning. I was not emotionally prepared and am still in shock. I feel terrible for those who lost their jobs and feel grateful for mine all at the same time.

I'm sorry - I can imagine it's stressful. There is some degree of "survivor's guilt" that's common when layoffs happen. Hang in there and try to handle the situation the best you can.

That sounds really stressful! Sorry you had to go through that. Hopefully they will be able to find new jobs quickly!!

Thank you everyone. I went out to lunch with a couple of work friends (also managers). We were able to process everything and talk a bit more so I am feeling better.
