I met with the MFM yesterday and she said next pregnancy I will start p17 shots around 15w and do them weekly from then forward. Has anyone had any experience with p17 shots? I am interested in the side effects on the baby, I have been trying to do some research but haven't found any good articles yet.
She also said that I will be getting biweekly to weekly ultrasounds to monitor my cervix. She seemed very convinced I had an incompetent cervix which surprised me because when I asked the midwife who delivered Brynlee about this she laughed because it was so hard to get me to dilate. If there are in changes in my cervix I would have a stich put in to keep my cervix closed and they would remove the stich at 37w.
I wasn't a big fan of the MFM after saying how uncommon PPROM is so there isn't much available research on them she asked how old my husband was!!! If she had read my file she would have known Reva was the other mother. She also started talking about the increased risk during pregnancy if you go through IVF. I was like but we didn't we got pregnant through IUI, she kept talking about IVF so Reva interrupted her again and was like this is all very interesting but we used IUI so I don't know how it pertains to us. If I didn't love the midwife who delivered Brynlee and the birthing centers nursing staff so much I would go elsewhere. Assuming nothing goes wrong with the next pregnancy that will be the one time we have to meet her. She will be monitoring my case but won't need to met with me again unless something goes wrong.

Re: Experience with p17 shots
I'm sorry about your appointment with the MFM going so poorly. Everyone deserves better treatment than that!! I'm glad you won't likely have to see her regularly and I am glad that you love your midwife.
I'm wishing the best for you and Reva.
We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.
Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.
Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
1st ultrasound (3/6 6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.
***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

I don't do p17 shots, but I'm on Lovenox so I can speak to having to take daily shots, and that they're not a big deal. And I will say this, as a fellow second tri loss mama (16w, different circumstances), it does feel good to do *something* that feels different. It's oddly reassuring to me to take my shot everyday, fwiw.
Think of you lots and I'm glad you are figuring out next steps. My pcp told me I was "brave" for trying to get pregnant again, and honestly until it happened, I didn't get it. It is terrifying, and until your loss milestone it is nerve wracking...but, while your next baby won't replace Brynlee, it will be a new life that will be a very good thing.

@2MamazinSeatle it is great that you love your MFM I wish I could find one I love just incase for next time. It is brave to try again but you are going to be an amazing mother again. I know I have to try because Brynlee wouldn't want me to give up and neither do I or Reva. It is going to be hard and I feel like until I reach viability and probably even after that it is going to be challenging to fully enjoy the pregnancy. I am going to be ready to pop before I even announce that I am pregnant this time around. I waited longer then most people and didn't announce until the day of our anatomy scan. I think now if I had only waited a week longer I wouldn't have to go back to work and explain to everyone what happened.
If anyone has a MFM in Boston area who the love PM me.

I'd bet you can find a better MFM in a big metro area like Boston! We had one outfit that dealt with my D&E, and they were so disorganized we went to the other big outfit in Seattle and the difference was profound. It was jarring to switch, but we are SO happy we did!
