Random Question: do you shave your legs for OB appointments?

Just had my first OB appt and I embarrassingly realized I forgot to shave my legs. I only shave like once a week in the winter and didn't even think about the fact that I'd have to get naked today. So I'm curious- do you shave or not?

  • I do if it has been a while.  If it is just stubble I don't worry about it.

I do a quick shave when I shower before going and make sure I don't have a crazy bush.

I did for my last appointment - I hadn't shaved my legs in probably 2 months. They were hairy bear legs. I joked with DH that I only shave for the Dr.  :\">

  • I don't really think about that, but I always shower before, especially since my OB likes to do spontaneous ultrasounds on the baby, so because I usually shower before, my legs are usually shaved. I can't go more then 2-3 days or it bugs me.

  • I do. I had laser appointments so I have a lot of patchy areas. Don't look right when I let it grow.

Exactly this. Not gonna lie, I'm already dreading the day where my bump is so big that shaving becomes an issue.

  • I don't shave my legs unless I am wearing a dress or shorts. Which is almost never - I have really sensitive skin on my legs and no matter what I do, I get super bad razor burn. One day I might be brave enough to wax...

  • That's the only time I shave my legs. I don't have time for that shit haha
  • If I don't shave the legs and vajay-jay everyday I go crazy. So yep I'm always smooth every time.
How do you shave your cat every day?  i feel like I always bleed if I do that.  :o(  I have to go at least 4-5 days between shavings.  What's your secret?

  • I used to. I will shave for pap smears, but I when I was doing rehab for a knee injury I couldn't bend my leg to shave and apologized to the physical therapist (young, good looking, charming) and he went into a 10 minute rant about how he doesn't understand why women are so concerned about shaving their legs because it really doesn't matter and it isn't that big of deal to guys.

Don't know how truthful that is for guys in general, but he certainly didn't care. Also, the obgyn or midwife will at some point in the month have their hands in someone's vagina pulling a baby out covered in blood and goo. I think if I don't get a chance to shave, seeing my hairy leg still has to be more pleasant experience than childbirth.

I'm like JLo in that movie Plan B. I shave my legs, trim or shave vajayjay, buff my feet with pumice stone and check that my toenails are not too ugly... It's ridiculous, I'm aware... But, I can't stop myself! Lol... I don't think she cares, but wouldn't want to have nasty feet near her face. Other people's BO is distracting and revolting...

  • Always. My hubby teases me for this constantly because, let's face it, I shave them more often for her more than I do for him. I'm sure she's seen all manner of spooky things, but I really would rather not be listed under that category for any reason.

  • My doctor friends have laughed to me about how women shave their pubic hair before going in for an assessment - these particular doctors, at least, seem to think it's weird when it appears the shaving was done for the appointment.

Which suits me fine, because I hate shaving. So I don't touch the legs (pretty much never do) and make sure everything else looks accessible, because I suppose there's quite a bit of wiggle room between completely unkempt and completely shaven.

I also work in a very tactile area of health care and I'm not sure I even notice if people are shaved or not. But maybe that's because I don't shave my legs in my personal life.
  • I get a Brazilian every 5 weeks so it's never super bad down there. I don't really stress about shaving my legs for the dr ... If I have time...great, if not... Oh well.
