Frozen fruit?

Anyone give their LO frozen fruit? I've been thinking about buying some frozen fruit (peaches and mangoes are on my mind at the moment) since I can't get fresh. I'm worried about it being a weird texture once it's thawed, but I know it would be better than buying the canned stuff. Any ideas besides peach and mango slices?

Re: Frozen fruit?

  • My kids love frozen blueberries but agree they are messier than fresh.  For everything else I try to use fresh fruit unless I'm making smoothies.

  • Yes, DD loves frozen mangos.  After they are thawed, I cut them into little pieces.  She also likes blueberries that have been thawed.  They can get a little messy, so I find it works will in a bowl with a spoon.

  • Tumaini loves frozen blueberries, and they're wonderful when she's teething, or when I have a lot of dishes to do. I just put them directly on her high chair tray, and she sucks on them a few seconds to thaw them in her mouth and then eats them. I'm pretty sure it would make an even bigger mess if I gave them to her thawed. We use all other frozen fruits for smoothies.

  • Oh! I didn't even think of doing smoothies or frozen for teething. Frozen fruit is going on my grocery list!

  • We do frozen for teething. LO is picky about fruit in general but she will usually gum on it when she is teething (some she spits out once it is warm and other she will actually eat). The cold helps her gums. We do frozen pineapple, blueberries, and strawberries.
  • Frozen blueberries are a favorite snack around here. They're like tiny, healthy little Popsicle balls. He flips out for them. Also frozen peas, as-is.
Everything else I only really use for smoothies. I don't like mushy fruit.

Oooh and banana "soft serve" aka a frozen banana blended up and eaten like ice cream.

Popsicle balls! I love it. That's what I'll be calling them now.
