Best Dry Cereals for Morning/All Day Sickness?

I'm new here and 7 weeks along.  All-day nausea and fairly regular vomiting are driving me crazy!  I've been nibbling on dry Cheerios and am sick of them.  I was wondering what other cereals you may have tried that helped.  I know what cereals I usually like, but I'm worried about munching on something really sugary/sweet.

Re: Best Dry Cereals for Morning/All Day Sickness?

  • Life got me through my first pregnancy. I discovered its not too bad to throw it up so I stuck with it.

  • Hey there.  I feel your pain, I'm at 10 weeks now and I've been having all day sickness since 6 weeks.  Honestly, I just get any cereal that seems appetizing at the time.  Recently it's been honey nut cheerios, cinnamon toast crunch, and cinnamon life.  If you're looking for something that's not as sweet, maybe try some plain chex or kix (do they still make kix?).

  • Not cereal, but Goldfish crackers got me through the queasies in my past pregnancies.

Instead of more carbs, try eating more protein.

  • I read a suggestion a while back about eating poptarts - I've been trying that and so far it's really helping. Good luck.

  • Thanks, ladies!  These all sound like great suggestions.  So glad to know we don't have to suffer this miracle of pregnancy alone!

This. Try starting the day with some hard-boiled eggs (If you feel really gross just eat the whites since they have basically no flavour). Having some protein in your system will keep you a bit more full and give you more energy.

If you are really insistent on cereal for the blandness, try multi-grain cheerioes, at least to get something whole grain.

If you are feeling like you can't stomach even plain cereal, organic and sodium-free chicken or beef broth is a great way to get some nutrients with very little flavour and no "heaviness" in your stomach.

  • Cracklin oat bran was my go to during first tri! I brought a zip lock to work and snacked all day. Yum!

  • I like Rice Crispy cereal, ya know, the snack crackle and pop kind? Lol! I don't like grainy or sugary cereal, and the blandness of rice crispies seemed to always settle well. It's my go to when I'm feeling that hungry but no appetite feeling. Fills me up and is easy to get down!
Also, a friend recommended to me to try pre making a batch of smoothie with a little protein powder added in on those mornings you just can't make yourself eat any breakfast. I haven't tried it yet because I haven't done any grocery shopping, but she said she would make a basic strawberry and banana smoothie with a little yogurts and protein powder. Blend it at night and put it in the fridge for the next morning. Wake up, shake your smoothie to remix and sip as much as you can throughout the morning.

Hope that helps and you find your remedy!
