Hello there - my daughter is about 12 weeks old and I'm going back to work in 2 weeks. I'm currently building up my milk stash using various brands of milk bags. I'm nervous they will leak when I defrost them (I've heard horror stories), so I'm considering switching to storage bottles. Two friends each gave me tons of snappies before she was born... I had no clue what they were at the time. They are unwrapped.
My question is - can I clean and sterilize them and then use them?
According the Snappies website, they are "disposable." Does that mean single use? In the mix are also a few wrapped enfamil storage bottles that look exactly the same. The wrapper says "do not reuse," which reinforces the single use only idea!
But it seems that others reuse them ...... Thoughts???? Thanks!
Also - I know they are small, but I'll pump into a Medela bottle and then transfer. I like freezing in smaller amounts (at least in theory).
Re: Snappies - reusable?
Also, if you defrost the bags in a bowl or whatever, and there is a leek, wouldn't the milk be contaminated anyway? The outside of the bags aren't clean after being stored in the freezer for any length if time
I've been reusing the snappies for years now! I just toss them in the dishwasher! I'm not sure I'd freeze in them though - you might get freezer burn. Not sure they are airtight. I've never had a Lansinoh bag leak! You can defrost in a ziplock to catch any leaks though (and that way you can still defrost in warm water too.) Your bags shouldn't get dirty unless you have a gross freezer, in which case maybe you should remedy that. I store my bags in the freezer in small gift bags after freezing them flat. See tutorial:

I know that this post is from months ago but I was also trying to find out if Snappies are reusable and they are, the package mine came in says that they can be reused at home. They list several options on cleaning them:
Hand wash with hot soapy water OR rinse and wash in top shelf of dishwasher OR rinse and clean in microwave steam bag OR rinse and boil in water for 5-7 minutes.
It also says that they should be discarded when a change in color or shape occurs. Hope this helps!
