Are you sitting him down when he does it and ignoring him? Biting is usually a relatively short phase. I wouldn't give up nursing unless you're 100% sure you are ready.
We got through that phase after about a week. I nursed him in a quiet and dark room while watching him closely. Babies cannot physically bite while they are latched. So as soon as he unlatches, remove him from the breast. If he bites, the nursing session ends and I put him out of my lap for a few minutes.
